KILKEA CASTLE: A Castle Birthday for My Queen (and our First Impressions of Ireland)! @KilkeaCastle

TBEX Summit-17.jpg

In Castledermot, County Kildare, Ireland (one hour away from Dublin), you’ll find KILKEA CASTLE. It’s a majestic 12th century castle that’s been transformed into a luxury hotel.

We celebrated Rache’s birthday in this beautiful place–befitting of my queen and love of my life–on our first-ever trip to Ireland. It was really magical and definitely one of the best travel experiences we’ll cherish forever.

Here is a photo essay of our stay at Kilkea Castle…

The-Kilkea-Castle-Experience

Once the medieval stronghold of the Fitzgeralds, earls of Kildare, the Castle was built by Hugh de Lacy for one of Strongbow’s Norman Noblemen, Walter de Riddlesford. Today it stands proudly ready to extend a five-star welcome to travelers from around the globe.

Set on 180 acres of its own wonderful woodland, gardens and golf course, Kilkea Castle enchants from the moment you drive down the beech-lined avenue overlooking the Killeshin Hills, only minutes from the ancient Mullaghreelan Woods.” (Kilkea Castle Website)

BLUE POST BOILING Crabs & Shrimps with the Boys (A Review)

Blue Post Boiling Crab & Shrimps-41.jpg

It’s hard to please our boys these days. While they’re each growing up with different eating preferences, all of them demand yummy, satisfying food.

For Sunday lunch, we decided to eat at Davao’s famous Blue Post Boiling Crabs & Shrimps, to satisfy our craving for seafood (especially after our recent trip to Ireland) and our Gen Z kids’ need for interactive and delicious food.

We even had a discussion on sustainability, to teach our kids to only support establishments that are sustainable.

Here’s what we think about Blue Post Boiling Crab & Shrimps…

SUNNY SIDE CAFÉ BORACAY: Best All-Day Breakfast on the Island?!

Sunny Side Café is located along the white beach of Station 3 Boracay. Famous for their all-day breakfast menu, they specialize in comfort food and contemporary breakfast dishes that are never boring!

We love their concept of twisting classic breakfast favorites such as their Ube & Cereal Milk Pancakes, Bacon and Mango Grilled Cheese, and Sunny Side Café Champorado (made with Malagos Chocolate and topped with caramel ice cream, mango, and candied bacon).

They are the only restaurant on the island serving specialty coffee. The dishes are all made from scratch–from their bacon, chorizo, and soups, to their bread and pastries that are freshly-baked in-house, every day!

Here’s what to expect at Sunny Side Café…

Lumago Designs is a sustainable, eco-friendly, social enterprise, that is dedicated to improving the livelihood of women from Candau-ay, a large Barangay located on the outskirts of Dumaguete City and home to a large scavenger community.

Today, Lumago employs mothers from the Candau-ay community and trains them in the design and manufacturing of beautifully handcrafted jewelry that is locally-sourced with repurposed materials from the dumpsite.

The pieces are artfully handcrafted by the women, and express the bold and colorful personalities of Negros Island. OKTOBERFEST MANILA: German Club Oktoberfest @SofitelManila vs October Beer Festival @CityofDreamsPH

OF`0

If there’s one thing you should get pumped up for in October, it’s Oktoberfest!

Oktoberfest is a traditional German festival that celebrates everyone’s favorite things–food, beer, singing, and dancing! It isn’t just a traditional beer fair, it’s actually one of the best celebrations of them all.

The official celebration takes place in Munich, Bavaria, but so many other places try to copy this awesome festival, including Manila, Philippines! However, no matter where you celebrate, there are always a few things you can expect: mouthwatering food, lively people and music, and huge amounts of beer.

This year, Oktoberfest came to two of the best hotels in the city. Sofitel held its 79th German Club Oktoberfest on Oct 7 and City of Dreams, Manila hosted their own version of the festival on Oct 12. Both were grand, fun, and with lots of merrymaking!

Here’s a photo essay of Oktoberfest in Manila…

CULINAIRE: Around the World with Flavors from SMX’s Top Caterers! (Photo Essay)

SMX21 copy

Culinaire is one of SMX's biggest events of the year–a celebration of all their top accredited caterers and partners!

This year's theme–A Flight of Flavors–was different and a bit more fun. SMX designated one country each for their 14 caterers to showcase their respective food. For one night, guests had a chance to travel to different nations and gain access to some good food. These countries include Japan, Spain, Korea, Thailand, Philippines, Italy, Brazil, Germany, Turkey, India, France, USA, China, and Mexico.

The event was held last October 3 at the SMX Convention Center, Manila and was also a joint celebration of SMX Manila's 10th Anniversary, Megatrade Halls's 25th Anniversary, SMX Davao's 5th Anniversary, and the Sky Hall's 1st Anniversary.

Here's a photo essay of what happened at Culinaire…
