Chefs Digest: Gallery By Chele

Chele Gonzales is probably one of the Philippines’ most high-profile chefs, who has made an impact on fine dining and culinary circles in Manila.  He garnered international fame from his then-restaurant, ‘Vask’, which was ranked amongst the best in all of Asia, having landed Best in Philippines and 35th in Asia in 2017 by The Wolds 50 Best.

2018 marks a new beginning for Chele, with the closing of Vask and rebranding his operations to introduce Gallery By Chele.

According to Chele, Gallery is the next evolution of Vask and this time around, he has officially partnered with Chef Carlo Villaflor—who has worked under him for years—to take the next step on their culinary journey.

The duo brings the same skills and experience that made Vask the best in the Philippines and applies those tried and true methods to Gallery By Chele.  With Chele’s global perspective and Carlos’ knowledge of local flavors and ingredients, they have crafted a menu for Gallery that is a step away from the high-end atmosphere of Vask for a more laid-back and casual dining experience.

Gaudi Experience in Barcelona, Spain! @Klook

Barcelona is a mesmerizing seaside Spanish town, that I completely fell in love with!

It’s bursting with culture, UNESCO world heritage sites, Gaudí masterpieces, markets, delicious tapas and even fantastic beaches!

Plus it’s home to Barcelona’s number 1 attraction, the spectacular Sagrada Familia.

With so much to see and do, it’s tough to decide especially if you only have two days. Here’s a sample itinerary of my 2-days solo trip to Spain…

Must-try Camiguin Food (and Where to Find Them!)

Camiguin is a small island off the coast on the northern side of Misamis Oriental. Second only to Batanes as the smallest island in the Philippines, Camiguin spans just 238 sq. km. At its longest, it is just 23 kilometers or basically the whole stretch of EDSA.

Despite its size, Camiguin is a trove for foodies. Most of the food is still hugely Filipino, but International influences are slowly creeping in. Thanks in part to the expats who settled in the island, and the growing tourist community with varying palates.

Here’s a roundup of our food finds at Camiguin:Read more

Indonesia: Emerging Hub of Quality Food Ingredients #FiAsia2018

When people speak of Indonesia, the first things that come to mind are the beautiful islands of Bali and Sulawesi, or the bustling city and historic culture of Jakarta. While these do make a good representation of Indonesia, there’s something more than just vibes and economics that come into play that make it such a great country.

Indonesia has at least 6,000 more islands than the Philippines – and both countries are blessed with lush greens and the abundance of nature’s gifts. The difference is in the fact that Indonesia has realized how these gifts – and I’m not just talking about sights – can play a role in economics and food culture of the world.Read more
