We are always on the look out for first places to bring our balikbayan friends to eat in Tagaytay.

Sometimes, we would search TripAdvisor to cross-check recommendations. We were surprised to find that Nanay Cirilas’ Kapeng Barako is a highly rated private dining, local cuisine restaurant destination.

We were skeptical about the reviews but decided to book, pre-order and risk to dine first time with our guest.

ANTIPOLO BEEHOUSE: Private Home Dining at the Burrow with Vitty and Marie!

ANTIPOLO BEEHOUSE is the exciting creative space and residence of Vitty and Marie Gutierrez in Antipolo, Rizal. Its name is an homage to the nesting bees the couple found on the property when they first settled here. 

Built and designed by Vitty himself, st’s a popular pre-nuptial venue for those looking for something rustic and homey. Vitty is also known in their family for cooking delicious Filipino food, which they’ve started to share via private dining at The Burrow, their underground living and dining space surrounded by the forest and with a view of the stream.

LANTERNA is the bed & breakfast and private restaurant of Italian Chef Luigi and his wife Gladis Barbolla on the island of Boracay. Chef Luigi was actually one of the first Italians to settle in Boracay in the early 80’s and is regarded to this day as one of the island’s best chefs in his native cuisine. The private home dining restaurant serves Italian home cooking with everything made from scratch using sustainable ingredients. 

It is considered as a best kept secret among locals and their guests because of its simple yet authentic Boracay Island experience, from the ambiance to the food and island hospitality.

MAMA’S TABLE: Chef Vicky Tinio Clemente’s Private Dining

I’ve heard yummy stories about Chef Vicky’s private dining in Baguio from foodies raving about the experience. We met Chef Vicky in Mercato Centrale, with her stall selling her yummy goodies from Baguio, when we first opened in 2010.

She offers an 8-course, French-inspired, strictly-by-reservation private dining in her lovely home in Baguio. She only accepts strictly one group at a time, with a minimum of 6 persons.

There is no menu, so just be prepared to be surprised with the 3-hour, 8-course Degustation Meal.
