BALER: Costa Pacifica Mornings in Full Color! @CostaPacificaPH

BALER Costa Pacifica Breakfast-54.jpg

Mornings in Costa Pacifica are the best. There’s the awesome view of the sunrise that unfolds in front of you, whether you’re in your room or in the pool. Then there’s the delicious breakfast of binaliktad na dilis and Baler longganisa with garlic rice and egg, and suman with peanut butter and coco jam for dessert, to look forward to. 🙂

BALER: Dicasalarin Cove Experience @CostaPacificaPH

Dicasalarin Cove Baler-124.jpg

DICASALARIN COVE is a secret beach cove owned by the Angaras in Baler. It’s famous for its white sand, awesome vista, and access to the Baler Lighthouse.

I recommend this as an after-lunch day trip destination whenever you’re in Baler.

BALER: Costa Pacifica Halloween Night @CostaPacificaPH

BALER Costa Pacifica Breakfast-14.jpg

COSTA PACIFICA is a cool surfer’s beach resort managed by Raintree. It’s on the east coast, along Sabang Beach in Baler, Aurora — the birthplace of surfing in the Philippines.

I love the resort because of its chic-surfer vibe, the hip events, yummy Baler food, and beachfront location.

HOT-STAR Philippines: Taiwan’s Large Fried Chicken Chop in Manila (A Review) @HotStarPH

Hot Star-25.jpg

HOT-STAR is a popular shop in Taiwan’s Shilin Night Market and famous for its large chicken chop.

Unlike those of the other Taiwan Chicken Chop places that have opened in Manila, Hot-Star’s fried chicken is 30 cm long — big enough for 2-3 persons — and priced just right at P110-P125, depending on the flavor.

TACLOBAN: 140 Days After Typhoon Yolanda (A Photo Essay March 2014) #TindogTacloban

Tacloban 140 days after Our Awesome Planet-58.jpg
I visited Tacloban with my friend Spanky to create an ongoing Voluntourism Program in partnership with Operation Santa, to help the people of Leyte affected by Typhoon Yolanda.

As donation fatigue sets in, the artificial economy created by International aid is removed, and the media starts to focus on 2016 politics, the Yolanda-affected areas will be forgotten — unless we do an ongoing program to help the people rebuild.

I love Tacloban because of its yummy food and warm hospitality. Visiting the city, 140 days after the typhoon hit, changed our life perspective forever.

I’ve heard yummy stories about Chef Vicky’s private dining in Baguio from foodies raving about the experience. We met Chef Vicky in Mercato Centrale, with her stall selling her yummy goodies from Baguio, when we first opened in 2010.

She offers an 8-course, French-inspired, strictly-by-reservation private dining in her lovely home in Baguio. She only accepts strictly one group at a time, with a minimum of 6 persons.

There is no menu, so just be prepared to be surprised with the 3-hour, 8-course Degustation Meal.

In my search for the best restaurant in Baguio, I asked Mitos, the Hill Station owner, on where does she eat good food in Baguio. She shared me this secret home-based Japanese place called Chaya.

CHAYA stands for “authentic Japanese cuisine, wholesome food and healthy lifestyle” by CHAYA Chef, Sonoko Taguchi.
