Beat Breast Cancer with Pink Mushrooms this October! @MinistryShrooms #MushroomsGoPinkPH

For the entire month of October 2015, the Ministry of Mushrooms will be advocating their 3rdMushrooms Go Pink PH”, a breast cancer awareness campaign that aims to educate people about the potential health benefits of eating mushrooms!

In 2013, Marco Lobregat, founder of Ministry of Mushrooms, collaborated with 50 highly praised restaurants and food brands in the Philippines. The goal was to encourage the creation and serving of more dishes using locally grown mushrooms, all the while helping raise cancer prevention awareness and contributing funds to the ICanServe Foundation.

Ministry of Mushrooms works with a group of young farmers such as John Regie Jaminal, Ivan Bagatsing of Perfect Mushrooms, and Billy Joel Santos Kabutehan Farms, a Gawad Kalinga cooperative that ensures the availability of locally grown mushrooms for the Mushrooms Go Pink PH campaign this October.

About UTT 2015: Most Remarkable Ultimate Taste Test Ever @AyalaMalls! (Photo Essay) 

Kabutehan, is a play on words. In Filipino, it directly means a place where you grow mushrooms or "kabute". It also closely resembles "kabutihan", which means goodness. The goodness of it all comes from the Gawad Kalinga project that's helping mothers and farmers create more opportunities for themselves with the introduction of oyster mushroom farming.

As a popular superfood, oyster mushrooms are known to be nutrient-packed with benefits such as upping your immunity with Vitamin D and for having cancer-fighting properties. It also helps keep the calorie, fat and cholesterol low. 🙂

Kabutehan's creative twist of adding traditional Filipino flare to their yummy mushroom appetizers caught the attention of the foodies. Congratulations for winning the 2015 Ultimate Taste Test with a rating of 3.7!

POULET MANILLE: Free-Range French Rotisserie Chicken in Manila!

POULET MANILLE is a home-grown restaurant concept by Chef Tom Hines and Dixie Marinas at SM Aura, Taguig, promoting Free-Range French Rotisserie Chicken.

"Poulet" means chicken in French and "Manille" is the French term for the City of Manila.  

They offer a healthier alternative to fast food chicken options, using free-range chickens that are grown naturally for 75 days by Pamora Farms. The chicken is roasted on a skewer in a traditional French rotisserie oven.

SiamAroi is a hole-in-the-wall Thai restaurant from Chef Nun and his wife Passon, who are originally from Pattaya in Thailand.  They moved to the Philippines because of their son Kris who is studying in Manila to become a doctor.

Siam is the old name of Thailand and Aroi means “yummy” in Thai.

Most people who have been to SiamAroi like how authentic the food tastes and the quirkiness of the ambiance.

La Comida Mexicana: A Mexican Food Fest @DiamondHotelPH

La Comida Mexicana”, a Mexican food festival at Diamond Hotel Philippines is a celebration of the rich flavors that Mexico has to offer. Running from the 16th of September to the 20th, you can eat your heart out during lunch or dinner at the Corniche. In line with Mexico’s National Day, Diamond Hotel Philippines flew in Mexican chef, Daniela Romero, who prepared more than 30 dishes from her homeland!

La Comida MexicanaChef Daniela is from Sonora, Mexico and has a Bachelors Degree in Culinary Businesses from Universidad del Valle de México. From 2012 to date, she has become the owner of 3 Mexican restaurants called “Las Chulas Restaurantes”. Before that, she has worked with Crowne Plaza Guadalajara Hotel and Ace Adventure Resort in West Virginia.

For 2,550 per head, Team OAP got to try out authentic Mexican favorites like Fajitas, Burritos, Beef Carni, and Enchiladas, among other things.

FAT is a comfort food restaurant featuring "fat" food conceptualized by Chef Mikel Zaguirre of Locavore fame. Renee Figueroa, the owner of Izumi Sake Bar, decided to revamp the concept into what is now one of the most talked about restaurants in Burgos Circle in BGC.

We tried FAT twice, first with the family and then with Team OAP, and here's what we think about it…
