With the summer season rolling in, Chili’s follows suit with their new line of deliciously messy ribs that come with a Cherry Cola or Blueberry Chipotle Glaze, do-it-yourself “Skillet BBQ Sliders”, and their tasty triumvirate of chicken, salmon and pork ribs in the “Texas Trio”.

Aside from their new menu, we also got to try their bestselling items and famous Margaritas.

Raquel Choa: The “Chocolate Queen” of Cebu Gives Tablea the Royal Treatment

Chocolate is considerably one of the most loved luxuries in the world. Its versatility across multiple cuisines shows us the artistry chefs and chocolatiers have at their disposable.

With the Philippines being one of the largest exporters of Premium Cocoa Beans, the country has the potential to create world-class chocolate products. However, the nation is yet to be recognized on the map of the top chocolate-making countries. Raquel Choa of Cebu aims to elevate the status of our chocolate potential through her love affair with Tablea.

TOYO EATERY: Sosyal Pinoy Eatery by Chef Jordy Navarra (A Review)

Toyo Eatery-49.jpg

TOYO EATERY is a Filipino restaurant by Chef Jordy Navarra (formerly of Black Sheep) that pays homage to Filipino flavors, eatery traditions, and modern Filipino design.

It’s a sosyal eatery where you can just come as you are (no dress code) but dine on Acacia Tables by Diretso, sit on Rattan chairs by Emurio, and admire the Capiz Lights by Milo Naval.

Here’s what we think about Toyo Eatery…

Toyo Eatery is a Filipino Eatery that takes the essence of Philippine flavors, traditions and
techniques and puts it in tune with quality products and a desire to make things nice.

New Black Sheep Manila: Filipino-Chinese Modern Degustacion (A Review)

Blacksheep Manila-15.jpg

The new BLACK SHEEP MANILA is now a progressive Filipino-Chinese restaurant by Chef Patrick Go, featuring a “Filipino-driven menu with influences of Chinese flavor.”

Just to manage your expectations, note that this is totally different from the old Black Sheep in the W building. The owners decided to keep the name and just bring over Chef Patrick from the original Black Sheep crew.

Their selling proposition is the ability to construct your own degustacion menu from the available dishes, which are priced individually, a la carte. Since the menu is quite limited, we decided to just order all the items. Here’s what we think of the new Black Sheep…

HIGH STREET CAFE is the all-day dining restaurant of Shangri-La at the Fort, designed as a neighborhood food hall, offering world cuisine with casual service and a friendly ambiance. It features 9 different buffet stations with 50% of the food prepared upon order.

The place has received mixed reviews, possibly because of the high expectations given the Shangri-La brand. We visited with our foodie friends recently, and here’s what we liked and what we think can still be improved at Hight Street Cafe…

THE PIG PEN: Foodie’s Favorite Fresh Casual Cafe in Nuvali! @theblackpigmnl

The Pig Pen-25.jpg

The Pig Pen is the fresh, casual little brother of The Black Pig located in Nuvali. Chef Carlos Garcia, together with Tricia Villacorta-Macdonald and Berna Fajardo-Garriz, created a cafe and concept of their popular European-inspired food using only the freshest local ingredients, but at a much affordable value.

What’s awesome about this is they elevated the food scene in Nuvali, providing one of the few foodie options (alongside Kanin Club) that aren’t fast food or commercialized franchise concepts.

Here’s what to order and what to expect at The Pig Pen…
