I love the overall vibe of the food park. You can feel the passion of each chef and entrepreneur when you taste their dishes. It’s reminiscent of the vibe we created in Mercato.

We tried all the stalls and met with all the purveyors. Here’s our guide to our favorites at The Food Hive…

THE MINOKAUA by Billy Villareal and Chef Mike Tayag is a Spanish-Filipino comfort food resto bar and music venue for various genres that aims to revive the Malate vibe.

The name is a tribute to the giant dragon-like bird of Philippine folklore, which ate the sun and caused the solar eclipse.

We were here recently to try their most recommended dishes and watch the musical duo of Bo BismarkNoli Aurillo. Here’s what we think…

NEOLOKAL is the Modern Anatolian Museum Restaurant of Chef Maksut Aşkar located in SALT Galata, a cultural institution and exhibition space in Istabul, Turkey

The term “neolokal” is meant to describe the refined family cooking philosophy of the restaurant, based on the roots and traditions of real Anatolian cuisine. “Anatolia” is the old name of Turkey, which refers to Asia Minor or the western side of Asia.

For the first time ever, Manila was able to get a taste of the real flavors of Anatolian cuisine at Flame, Discovery Primea, thanks to Cheryl Tiu’s Cross Cultures.

Here is a photo essay of our educational journey into Turkish cuisine…

MARMALADE KITCHEN is the restaurant and kitchen studio of Chef Aileen Anastacio of Goodies & Sweet’s fame. It serves all-day breakfast and comfort food favorites that Filipinos love. The restaurant is also a popular venue for 50-60 pax private events in BGC and her kitchen studio hosts intimate cooking & baking classes for a minimum group of 6.

Thanks to her innovative collaborative spirit, she has outlasted most of the restaurants in this little corner of BGC.

We recently revisited Chef Aileen’s bestsellers and tried her recent Potatoes USA collaboration inspired by the US Potato Safari concept, an annual campaign challenging local restaurateurs to create innovative US potato recipes.
