Finally, the Galileo Enoteca Experience I was looking for!

The night was perfect and Galileo Enoteca provided the backdrop for this picture perfect shot of the reunion dinner of my P&G friends and their kids. I learned a lot from my previous dining experience in Galileo, and I made sure that I would get that perfect Christmas Dinner Party for a special reunion with friends. Talking to Vanessa (Galileo’s lovely manager) is critical in getting the right menu in place, and we agreed on a P500/person menu which is a full course menu which includes fresh olives and spanish sardines, the antipasto and different cheeses, salad in vinegrette, 3 kinds of delicious pasta served family style, chocolate gelato, and overflowing ice tea/ wine. Aside, from the disappointing salad and wishing that we got the sala 4 (last table), the reunion christmas dinner was a night to remember.

The Pizza Company — Thai pizza chain making its presence felt!

The Pizza Company is starting to make its presence felt in the Philippines scene rivaling Pizza Hut or Shakeys or even Yellow Cab. No doubt this is a lot better than Pizza Hut/ Shakeys but I would still prefer the Italian pizza of Amici/ Bravo/ Mama Tina Pizzeria. The Pizza Company prides itself for its finest fresh ingredients, finest crust and finest cheese blends and its pizza innovations. Their salad selections are delicious that is clearly a point of difference from other Pizza chain. The first store is located in Market Market Second Floor and its value for money pizza is a good excuse for visiting Market Market.

Discovering Fiama Ristorante Enoteca!

My Big Brother (in black) went home for the Christmas Holidays and this is a family reunion and was looking for a perfect welcome dinner for him. I’ve been wanting to check out Fiama which is another restaurant using the Enoteca (meaning wine store). It was actually awkward, when if you look closely at the back tables, people are in formal or at least casual chic attire and we were in jeans and casual attire (hehe). I just came from Tagaytay and I just invited my family impromptu to discover Fiamma. It was a fun dinner, nice ambiance, great food mostly and great service. Ideal for the date or special dinner for two (worth the extra costs).

I’ll let the food photos do the talking. Let me know if you can taste the food just by looking at it 🙂 Welcome home bro!

Queens: Best Indian/Fusion Food I Tasted in a Long Time!

Queens, originally uploaded by antondiaz.

When Queens opened along Jupiter St. in Makati, there was a lot of buzz about how great the food and a bit on the pricey side. It has a fine dining atmosphere, that is not intimidating, and perfect for that dinner conversation with friends. I’m glad Vivian and Marge treated the entire barkada to a Sunday Dinner treat at Queens! It was a perfect dinner event for that priceless reunion with friends.

5 Foodie Reasons to go to Tiendesitas

tiendesitas – 2, originally uploaded by antondiaz.

I’ve never been fond of Shopping Malls and Tiangge’s because (1) they are waste of time, (2) expensive since their retail prices are not direct from the source, and (3) it is not unique since anybody can get it. Tiendesitas is no exception, which means “little stores” located along Ortigas corner C-5 and has been in operation for 3 months now. It is owned by Ortigas and Company Ltd (same owner as greenhills shopping center), and it is envisioned to be the Chatuchak equivalent of the Philippines. This three (3) hectare flea market mall area is part of the bigger 2 billion, 18.5 hectare Fontera Verde Development which would also houses an Super SM Hypermarket and MC Home Depot in the future. You can go here for Fashion, Food Delicacies, Pet Shops, and Antiques with Free Parking and ATMs available.

So why would I go to Tiendesitas where the prices are touristy expensive, and each visit would be a workout in the gym ? They are living up to their equity of being able to acquire the True Taste of Pinoy and here are five reasons why…

[Unique Stores.3] The Little Chinese Store

Little Store – 1, originally uploaded by antondiaz.

This store has been in operation for 5 years, and going strong with a loyal following of its yummy P40 chinese lumpia. This is an oriental store that serves canteen style chinese food with lumpia as the “killer” food that draws dine in and take out guests. This is my first time (can you imagine that) to visit this store which my wife’s family raves about because of its assortment of oriental goodies and seasoning. Although, according to my wife, her grandmother’s lumpia is still a lot better and more delicious than the Little Store’s version. Here is a peak at the Little Store in Greenhills.

A Lesson in Timing @ Galileo Enotica

Galileo, originally uploaded by antondiaz.

Galileo Enotica is a place with a soul alright as describe by Market Man. I missed Market Man’s EB and I also missed all the special food served as captured by Desserts First in her EB post . I ate in Galileo last Saturday Lunch time and I got to experience the normal set menu. No Fresh Mozzarella! No Lambrusco wine! No Fresh Anchovies and Fresh Olives! No roasted peppers and no baby tomatoes! No penne with roasted eggplant! No other food aside from Spaghettini Ala Arabiata and Spaghetti Ala Carbonara! No doubt the food is great but this is a lesson of timing when to eat in places like this and I’ll share with you my experience and how best you can enjoy this place when you visit.

Mama Tina Ristorante – Another Italian Favorite

I love Italian! Specially when I started to try out to be a vegetarian, pizzas became part of my normal diet. I particularly like the Amici de Don Bosco type of pizza, or Bravo’s thin crunchy crust pizzas and I’m looking out for that authentic Italian taste. Here’s another favorite which is Mama Tina Ristorante along Edsa.

Vegetarians don’t eat Steak :(

I heard a lot of raves about the novelty of eating beside a petron station but I’ve never tried it and probably never will. I’m a vegetarian for 2 weeks now (yes, you heard me right) and I can only read reviews about it. Particularly interesting is Firefly | Zephyr’s review of Everything @ Steak. If my vegetarian experiment works, I don’t mind missing raving about this steak. 2 more weeks…
