[Viaje del Sol Series.3] “Starbucks” stop @ Jay’s Kinabuhayan Cafe

By

This is the same concept in the windows where it was designed to act as picture frame (both ways) to capture the outside nature ambiance or the homey ambiance of the cafe. … I took a shot of the bed with kulambo (nets) so practically you could already see that staying at Kinabuhayan is party and drinking all nights and the beds are just used when you are really just tired or drunk already 🙂 There is also a tree house which Jay uses when all the other Kubo’s are occupied. … It would be difficult to go all the way up here when you are already drunk 🙂 Here is a backyard photo of Kinabuhayan Cafe MORE INFORMATION: Kinabuhayan Cafe Winston @ +63 917 327-1106 Jay @ +63 917 368-0054 Tel# +63 42-565 6828 Website: Kinabuhayancafe.

[Viaje del Sol Series.1] Breakfast @ Kusina Salud

By

The entire trip is just about one hour and 30 minutes without traffic but on the way back it was 3 hours with extreme traffic (considering it was christmas season).  I’m glad that Kusina Salud already started to offer breakfast as early as 9am but of course you need to book in advance. … Tapang Kalabao (P160). slow braised water buffalo “tapa” served with garlic rice, scrambled egg and fresh organic papaya atchara.  Most expensive breakfast set and the least yummy among the options. … I’m glad Nina was there when we arrive and we had a nice chat with her — very approachable and ma-chika 🙂 Here is our entire group– Viaje del Sol: The Fellowship of Brobo.

Viaje del Sol Review

By

Sorry for starting this on a sour note, but we were disappointed because the Patio Verde is a hole in the wall grilled beerhouse and even if the food is great, the whole ambiance and crowd is not appropriate.
…Patis Tesoro was the one who started this Viaje del sol concept and I’m glad that they marketted the whole San Pablo and Tiaong as one destination rather than competing with each other.
…One you are in the main highway, Maharlika along San Pablo City, There are alot of signs going to Kusina Salud.

Casa San Pablo — Cozy Place for a retreat

By

Casa San Pablo is one of the destinations in the Viaje del Sol ‘s San Pablo destinations and we checked it out during our Rambutan Picking adventure . … So, I ended up shooting the ambiance of the place which was suppose to be designed by Ugu Bigyan .
…But if you don’t mind and you don’t miss your soft spring beds at home then you’ll feel right at home here.

Carlito’s Workshop 3 — Carlito’s Coffee

By

This is the highlight of the trip —a cup of Barako Coffee and delicious Puto at Carlito’s workshop. Our only regret was we did not call in advance because he could have served us Rice Coffee and would be a unique experience.
… There are interesting art pieces all around and my friend, Maong was fascinated with the swinging wooden chair in a steel frame (middle photoo).

Carlito’s Workshop 2 –Photogenic House with an Outstanding Garden :)

By

When we went to Carlito’s, we were hesitant to go in because we are literally walk-ins because we did not call in advance for reservations but the brochure said it is open on Saturdays.
…Apparently, he is a very good friend of Patis Tesoro and she asked him to open up his very nice house for people visiting San Pablo.
…In this particular case when we visited, we were the ONLY people and we were entertained very well 🙂 Carlito lives with his wife and daughter but they were out in San Pablo city when we arrived.

Carlito’s Workshop 1– Intimidating House with Surprisingly Hospitable Host!

By

In the viaje del sol map , we saw this Carlitos Workshop area which is very intriguing just along the maharlika hi-way in between Villa Escudero and Kusina Salud.
… ” Carlito Ortega is a sculptor who works in welded steel and brass, as well as with old hard wood.
…His place is intimidating at first because of the big steel gates and grand driveway to his house.

Rambutan Festival 3: Harvesting 10kg of Rambutan

By

Also, one thing I hate about rambutan is that the coat of the seed which is hard part sometimes stick to the soft part of the fruit when you eat it. ( now I had a hard time explaining this ) But, lo and behold, their rambutan variety is extremely good that totally changed the way I looked at rambutan.
…So we commissioned a guy to get the rambutans for us while we snap these shots and enjoyed eating rambutan while we wait.
…Unfortunately, we decided that this might not be a place for Aidan to go to so he was left with his mom in the main house.
