Transformation Triumph Thursday features the awesome transformation story of Wilbern David.
This is a special story of an OAP reader who got very fat because of my restaurant recommendations. I felt a bit guilty and some criticize OAP for promoting being fat even to my family. Featuring transformation stories is one way I can give back and inspire foodies to be healthy.
Kanto Freestyle is a 24/7 all-day breakfast concept featuring ridiculously affordable Filipino and Western fare. They offer pancakes, eggs Benedict, Spam, pork belly and the usual silog.
The owners wanted to revolutionize the kanto/karinderia image, by uplifting the same kind of breakfast items you’ll find in eateries all over the Philippines.
But why add the word “Freestyle” to “Kanto”? Because, here, you can mix and match your morning meal favorites. Make your own breakfast with different tapas, bacon strips, tocino and even have your eggs prepared just the way you like them—sunny side, scrambled, boiled or poached!

It’s flavor-forward; celebrating local ingredients in the Philippines refined by Spanish culinary techniques.
“Gallery by Chele | AT HOME will be officially launch and be ready for delivery this coming Saturday May 23rd. Also our initiative of social and solidarity cooking that as soon we go back to operations we want to keep doing. Many poor communities would be very much affected even after the lockdown and we would like to help them providing every Thursday 500 meals in a budget of 10 to 15k we can do that and using our resources in the restaurant using all food and minimise waste. We will need food or monetary donations for this and I hope other restaurants would do the same to keep taking care of the ones who need it more.”
“It’s back! Chef Chele’s iconic dishes from his heritage and his mom’s home cooking are now available. Including some of the dishes that made a mark when he arrived in the Philippines. I’ve been burned so many times by transformation systems or “balik alindog” programs in the past that did not work. I’ve also tried doing it naturally by giving up all carbs or by intermittent fasting, but the impact was slow and did not work well at reducing stored fats.
When I told my family that I was going to try Yoli Better Body System, the reactions that I got went from “hindi magwowork yan, tataba ka pa rin after” to “sayang lang ang pera diyan, wala na nga tayong income” to “Multi-level Marketing Scam lang ulit yan.”
I totally understood where they were coming from but it was discouraging, honestly.
First Things First
Still, I persisted in doing the transformation because I wanted to continue playing basketball with my sons when they grow up, last during a best of 7 series, even beat them at this game.
I felt it was imperative to transform in order to survive in the post-Covid world. The death rate of Covid-19 is attributed to people with co-morbilities specially yung matatanda at yung matataba.
It also helped that my brother Rommel was the one who invited me to do Yoli and I wanted to support him.
