Yup, you got that right—15 hours only! Starting October 29, 2018, PHILIPPINE AIRLINES now flies non-stop to New York onboard their newest and most modern aircraft of its generation, the Airbus A350!
This, they say, is the second to the longest non-stop flight next to Singapore Airlines, and it’s the fastest way from Manila to the Big Apple with no more stopovers via Tokyo or Taipei, unlike my experience before that took 22 hours of travel time.
Plus, foodies flying out to New York with PAL, who want to enjoy authentic American steak, do not have to wait before landing to indulge their craving as business class passengers on the non-stop flights to New York will experience top global brand Wolfgang’s Steakhouse gourmet quality steak dinners on board.
Among my favorites in PAL’s prime New York route’s mouthwatering menu were Wolfgang’s Fillet Mignon, Striploin Steak, Grilled Chilean Seabass, French onion soup and the glorious New York Cheesecake.
It was definitely an upgrade experience for passengers flying to New York in Business Class! Check out the new extra wide body Airbus A350…

In the Philippines, when people talk about “Siquijor” they instinctively associate it with witchcraft, magic, folklore and mythical beings.
You see, most Filipinos grew up hearing frightening stories about this supposedly scary island and how it is home to many age-old tales of kulam, aswang and the infamous Balete tree.
Which may all be true many years back (according to our guide), but is now just a common misconception (or is it?) when it comes to describing what this tiny mystical Island has to offer.
Some may say that the stories often linked to the island are part of its curse, but I would like to think that it’s not. I’d say it’s part of this beautiful islands mystique and charm.
Because little does everyone know that this incredibly quaint island is home to some of the best-kept secrets in the Philippines.
Bicol has always been a popular destination for both local and international travelers, as it is home to one of the most beautiful works of Mother Nature. Although shy to show its tip on most days, the Mayon Volcano’s perfect cone structure has continued to attract all forms of tourists.
This region is also popularly known for their cooking – especially when it comes to coconut or chili-based dishes. So much so that they have started to package the popular Bicol Express, Pinangat, and Inulukan in frozen bags for people to take home. While those alone already make for the perfect pasalubong, why not try other unique items?
Here are some pasalubong ideas I spotted on my last visit…
Foodies flying out to New York with PHILIPPINE AIRLINES who want to enjoy authentic American steak do not have to wait before landing to indulge their craving.
As business class passengers on the nonstop flights to New York will experience top global brand Wolfgang’s Steakhouse gourmet quality steak dinners on the 17-hour flights that will set a new record as the Philippines’ longest-ever commercial air route.
WOLFGANG’S STEAKHOUSE lives up to its fame that its steak is a genuine New Yorker. Using prime USDA Black Angus beef flown in weekly from the United States. The beef comes fresh, not frozen, and is a dry-aged for 28 days in an aging room. This results in a more tender and flavourful steak.
Among my favorites in PAL’s prime New York route mouthwatering menu includes Wolfgang’s Fillet Mignon, Striploin Steak, Grilled Chilean Seabass, French onion soup and the glorious New York Cheesecake.
Here’s a closer look at all the menu offerings…
Philippine Airlines will debut its historic new nonstop services between Manila and New York City starting October 29 on board the 4-Star carrier’s Airbus A350 aircraft.
Siama Hotel is one of the most visually stunning and beautifully designed hotels that we’ve had the pleasure of visiting. Inspired by the charming countryside of Sorsogon PHL, Siama seamlessly blends natural and modern architecture into a space that is calm and relaxed yet, at the same time, bold and welcoming.
Sustainability and nature, which are reflected throughout the entire hotel, were the main inspirations that went into the design.
Locally sourced materials were used in its construction, and great care was taken to ensure that the hotel has as small an impact on the surrounding environment as possible.
But looks alone isn’t what makes Siama one of our favorite hotels. The service and food are top-notch, and Siama is a great starting point if you plan to visit the many tourist attractions in Sorsogon.
