“Angels in America” Manila (Review) @ATEGasia

I must be honest. There would be two types of theater goers after watching the award-winning Angels in America by American playwright Tony Kushner: the one who would rave about the theatrical perfection of this groundbreaking masterpiece, and the one who got bored to death.

For some, they need to know what it is all about before committing to watching with friends. For me, when I watch plays, I usually go clueless about what it is all about, so as to have no biases. I let the story unfold, appreciate the narrative and finish the show with an internal reflection of what it means to me.

I’ll let you know what I think at the end of this post.

List of Volunteer Organizations (💯Legit) in the Philippines! #GOVolunteer

Performing Arts and Recreation Center (PARC) Volunteers

Volunteering is both a selfless give-and-take act because you work for free to contribute to the community but in return, you discover yourself while your love tank is filled by the people you helped.

But these days, you have to be careful about which volunteer groups to join because some exploits the community they work with by making them dependent on volunteers instead of making the community better.

iVolunteer Philippines is the leading organization that connects volunteers to the rightful NGOs and communities for the last 10 years. Every year, they hold a GO! Volunteer Expo to showcase and meet the different volunteer groups. This is a great opportunity also for volunteers to look for where they can offer their skills to the group that would benefit the most.

This year, the GO! Volunteer Expo will happen at Glorietta Activity Center on April 6 & 7, 2019.

This time, iVolunteer Philippines is making it an even bigger event that will celebrate everyday Filipino heroes and the timeless act of giving back. iVolunteer believes that when given the opportunity, Filipinos are always willing to answer the call for help.

Here’s the complete list of Volunteer Communities that you can join:

The New Wild Flour Restaurant

WFpost11

Having opened their doors in 2012, Wild Flour Restaurant has gone on to become one of the most successful and recognizable (local) restaurant brands in Metro Manila.

Consistency, great food, and great talent are some of the key factors to Wild Flour’s success, and while a number of restaurants struggle in Manila’s highly competitive restaurant market, Wild Flour has been steadily growing with no signs of slowing down making their story a true, modern-day Filipino success story.

WFpost4

Starting out as a small French/American cafe and bakery that specialized in all day breakfast and lunch, Wild Flour has gradually evolved its menu to incorporate local and international items to keep up with customer demand. This has led the team to expand beyond the brunch style model by adding dinner to their menu which is now available at all branches.

Ultimate Taste Test Masters Edition Judges Scorecard and the Winners are…

Ultimate Taste Test Masters Edition 2018-125.jpg

The recently concluded 16th Annual Ultimate Taste Test, the longest running food event since 2008, was held at 55 Events Place along Scout Rallos St. in Quezon City. Some of the judges say this was one of the best UTT events yet because of the quality of the vendors, the online voting process and the impact to the food purveyors.

(Dulce Magat-Gibb of A Table, Chef Sunshine Puey, Chef Sharwin Tee and Jutes Templo of Gino’s Pizza)

For this year’s Masters Edition, instead of getting the public’s vote, we brought in the restaurant industry’s Masters—chefs, food influencers and restaurateurs—as the judges. Their invaluable experience, advice and rating are highly essential especially to home-based businesses that are just starting out.

Ultimate Taste Test Masters Edition 2018-61.jpg

Set in a more intimate venue, the Ultimate Taste Test Masters Edition gave the vendors and Masters the opportunity to be more candid and personal.

We had almost a hundred judges and 26 vendors who supported this year’s event. We would like to extend our thanks to all our friends in the food industry who graced the event!

La Petite Parisienne Guide to Food and Wine Pairing

La Petite Parisienne is a wine cellar, deli, pizzeria, and events place all rolled into one. Offering some of the widest selection of classic and premium wines directly imported from France to Manila, it is only apt that they also take part in educating interested parties in the intricacies of wine and the best ways to enjoy it.

La Petite Parisienne offers a multitude of classes about wine, one of them being the Wine and Food Pairing. I don’t claim to know a lot about wine. In fact, I just go for a Moscato or a Rosé without thinking twice whether they match my food or not.

Here’s what I learned at the Wine and Food Pairing Class at La Petite Parisienne
