5 Awesome Things About APL.d.AP of Black Eyed Peas!

Allan Pineda Lindo, popularly known as APL.d.AP of the Black Eyed Peas, is one of the Filipinos who made it to the International Music Scene. The Black Eyed Peas remained in the US top 100 singles billboard charts for 25 weeks. Their single “BOOM BOOM POW” stayed for 12 weeks, back to back with  “I Gotta Feeling” for 13 weeks. (Also, see the Flash Mob dancing to I Gotta Feeling in the opening of Oprah’s 24th season in Chicago) Black Eyed Peas even beat Elvis’, Michael Jackson’s, the Beatles’, and the Rolling Stones’ record in the US Billboard Charts. A Filipino on top of the Billboard Charts is simply AWESOME!

When I met him in Singapore, I was not starstruck. Rather, I was awed by how much he truly loves and pays tribute to the Philippines!

I got a chance to attend the exclusive talk of Cristeta Comerford for Asia Society members. This was a day after she received her BPInoy award for excellence in Culinary Arts.

Who is Cristeta Comerford?

She was the first woman and Asian Executive Chef from a minority in the White House.
She was an Executive Sous Chef in 1995 during the Clinton administration.
She got promoted 10 years after to Executive Chef on August 15, 2005 during the Bush administration.
She was a food technology graduate of the University of the Philippines.
She migrated to the United States with her family in the 1980s.
She is proud to be a Filipino with her roots from Bulacan and Batangas — even after 25+ years in the US.
She is married to John, who is also a Chef.

Sailing with the Balangay

We are officially part of history, as we were part of the first group to test-sail the Balangay on Manila Bay. Not even the light rain was enough to cancel our date with destiny. It was an easy and safe cruise last Saturday morning with Sir Art, Aidan, Lileya and Liyora with the sounds of canyon firing every 30 minutes in honor of Cory Aquino.
