Going Savage! (Created by Chef Josh Boutwood)

By doing away with the pretentiousness one would typically expect from Fort Bonifacio’s higher-end restaurants, Savage is a breath of fresh air that is as familiar as it is—in its own way—innovative.

No gas or electric stoves, no foams, no spherification. Here you’ll find a rustic menu with hearty servings made the good old-fashioned way.

Wood, fire and a grill.

A testament to humankind’s ongoing attempts at making Mother Nature taste delicious. Savage takes humanity’s most basic culinary premise and delivers great tasting food that not only looks amazing, but tastes amazing as well.

Off the beaten path, Savage is quietly tucked away in The Plaza at Arya Residences.

The plaza is home to a handful of high-end dining establishments and foot traffic is light to moderate during the weekdays. (With evenings and weekends being the busiest times.)

It’s a nice cozy location compared to the busier parts of BGC and we recommend visiting the place if you want a more laid-back dining experience.

FOO'D

FooDee Global Concepts (the same people behind the successful Tim Ho Wan, Todd English, Mesa, and Sunnies Cafe) has brought Michelin Star Chef Davide Oldani‘s pop cuisine concept FOO’D (/fú-dō/) to Manila.

Chef Oldani defines “pop cuisine” as accessible luxury cuisine with Italian roots, taking the simplest ingredients and turning these into a beautiful dish.

FOO’D’s unique selling point is that they offer Michelin-grade food, fine ambiance, and quality service at a reasonable price, from their P800 three-course menu to their P1,200 four-course menu. And because everything is upgradeable, you can start at P800 then work your way up (you can even go crazy with a P3000 menu and load up on the experience).

HUNGRY HOUND: On Duck Fat Fries, Mr. Delicious’ Bacon, and First Impressions… @HungryHoundPH

Hungry Hound First Impressions-22.jpg
HUNGRY HOUND is the latest Gastro Pub Concept by Chef Rob Pengson and Erwan Heussaff, located in the new Globe Headquarters in Bonifacio Global City.

It’s definitely howling but got mixed reviews when we visited during the soft opening. The concept is really cool but the execution is not quite there yet, and we felt it was premature to open before the ghost month.

Here are the things we liked and got disappointed with at Hungry Hound…

DA VINCI – THE GENIUS Exhibit: Da Vinci Fever hits Manila! (Is it worth going to?) @TheMindMuseum #DaVinciTheGenius

Da Vinci The Genius-40.jpg

LEONARDO DA VINCI is hailed as the greatest genius of all time from the Renaissance Period (late 14th century to about 1600). He is well-known as the artist behind The Mona Lisa.

But with the discovery of his codices (think coded idea notebooks) and the reconstruction of his inventions, people now get to further appreciate his forward thinking, vision, and artistry, which was well ahead of his time. One of his famous drawings is that of the Aerial Screw, believed to be the forerunner of the modern helicopter.

Finally, the most comprehensive traveling exhibition (with over 200+ exhibits) of Leonardo Da Vinci’s works is now here in Manila. The Mind Museum and Grande Exhibitions Australia presents “Da Vinci – The Genius” for a limited 3-month exhibition which opened today. 🙂

Admittedly, I thought the exhibition would be boring and only for the renaissance art lovers and hopeless inventors. But it was actually very inspirational, and you leave with a passion to make your own difference in the world.

So, is it worth going to? Read this first before going to the Da Vinci exhibit…
