ROBOT RESTAURANT: An Exciting Modern-Day Kabuki Experience in Tokyo!

coverlogo

Robot Restaurant is a modern-day cabaret show that has become one of Japans top tourist attractions

The live entertainment is a crazy combination of eastern and western pop culture, modern dance, light-shows, Japanese mecha, and live anime! The only way to truly describe Robot Restaurant is that, it is a type of modern-day Kabuki.

The 90-minute spectacle is divided into four acts that feature an array of friendly and heroic creatures who have to fend off an invasion by the Evil Robot Empire or something — to be quite honest we weren't really sure what was going on, but we loved every minute of it!

However, visitors shouldn't expect a typical dining experience, as it's more about the show than food. While meals are available for an extra charge, you can also buy refreshments and snacks between each act.

If you ever find yourself in Tokyo and have a few minutes to spare, with a few bucks to spend, Robot Restaurant should be on your to-do list when visiting Tokyo.  It is something that is purely Japanese and something you can only see in Japan.

(Tip: Eat before you watch the show, so you can focus on the amazing performances and animatronics.)

DOS MESTIZOS Boracay: Is this Spanish-Filipino Heritage Restaurant Still Good?

dosmes11

Dos Mestizos is a family run restaurant that opened its doors nearly 13 years ago and was the brain child of Jose Carlos Remedios aka Binggoy. It started out as your typical mom and pop shop and over the years it has evolved into one of Boracay's best and well-known establishments.

The secret to Dos Mestizos success is in the simplicity of its menu.  Basic, Rustic, and straight to the point, the culinary heritage of Mestizo cuisine is perfectly preserved in every dish.

From Tapas to Paella, the menu incorporates fresh ingredients that are mostly sourced locally. Locals and foreigners visiting Boracay flock to Dos Mestizos for these very reasons.

(Mestizo is a term in the Philippines used to describe people of Spanish heritage.)

Why The World Street Food Congress Dialog Matters? #WSFC2017

wsfc2017post1

The World Street Food Congress convened for the second year in the Philippines. Chefs and culinary influencers from around the world came together for a 2-day conference that celebrated this year's theme: "Re-Imagine Possibilities".

Talks ranged from preserving street food culture to protecting the rights of street vendors and reimagining heritage foods for the younger generation.

This year's conference was made special by a visit from the one and only Anthony Bourdain, who shared his insights on this year's topic and the impact of street food culture in America.
