It was our first time to stay at Maxims to celebrate Father’s Day with the kiddos. They enjoyed the experience because of the luxurious feel of the room, the pool experience and the relatively fast internet access.
For non-casino goers, here are some tips to maximize your celebration/staycation at Resorts World Manila.
First Things First
The main lobby of Maxims Hotel is located on the 5th floor which is the same floor as the pool, gym, The Terrace and the fire-affected section.

Room 633
The 54sqm Maxims Suite was quite spacious and the twin beds could fit Rache, me and the little ones.
It felt elegant with the velvet rose carpet and the blood red lounge area.
The bathtub was a plus for the kids, and the his/her washbasins were good for a big family like ours.
You could have a private closed-door session in the toilet and someone could shower simultaneously. There was enough space for the whole family.
A big closet space to keep all your things hidden and properly organized during the staycation.
The 6th floor suite overlooks the pools and faces the morning sun.
Swimming
I enjoy doing Daddy duties in the pool, and it’s always tough to get them out of the water.
It was a time when the teenagers preferred to hang out with their phones & laptops while the little ones were unli-sawa in the pool.
Lunch
We usually check out restaurants during off-hours to get better deals (like 30% off at Eatigo) and to make sure it’s not too crowded.
The Ginzadon eat-all-you-can appetizers were the best with dilis, kimchi, cucumber, fish cake, tofu and seaweed.
We asked each of the boys to order what he wanted individually.
Joshua went for the classic breaded pork cutlet on rice.
Raphael had a whole plate of gyoza all to himself, and he could easily share or barter for a few bites in exchange.
He usually likes to eat his dimsum with rice, but he decided not to this time for a change.
Aidan and I ordered ramen for a complete satisfying lunch.
I was disappointed because the ramen broth did not have a deep pork flavor.
Only thing I loved was the grilled salmon belly which we shared with Rache.
For dessert, we ordered ice cream and halo-halo for takeout from Silogue located on the casino floor (off limit for kids).
The Mango Salted Caramel did not disappoint!
Afternoon Sessions
In between meals, the teenager streamed his Fortnite sessions in Twitch.
(Yes, we always bring a PlayStation with us usually during staycations)
The little ones opted for a sunset pool and bathtub session.
In-Room Dinner
For dinner, we decided to enjoy the suite and order takeout from the casino food outlets.
Franks served the best hotdogs, our all around favorite.
The hotdogs came in classic, bistek tagalog or chicken pork adobo or chicken inasal (which was our fave).
This was like chicken nuggets or chicken fingers but bigger—good to share with the boys.
To end, we ordered a takeout of the famed buns from the nearby Victoria Harbour Cafe on the casino floor.
Island Spa
After the kids settled in, the parents escaped to the Island Spa hidden on the 5th floor of Newport Mall.
Our favorite kind of massage, a bit painful but relaxing at the same time.
Sunday Mass
Our staycation won’t be complete without hearing Sunday morning mass (8:00 am) at the Shrine of St. Therese of the Child Jesus whenever we are in Resorts World Manila.
Breakfast
After mass, we said thanks with a simple family breakfast.
Breakfast spread, a mix of Filipino/Chinese favorites, was decent .
I always love to have Chinese noodle soup for breakfast.
Final Thoughts
Thank you to Maxims Hotel and Resorts World Manila for an awesome Father’s Day staycation.
The hotel is a bit dilapidated already but it still has its charm. It’s proximity to Newport Mall makes it possible for the family to enjoy the restaurants, movie house or theatre.
Staycation is not complete without good food and a fast internet connection, which makes a lot of difference for me when I blog and for the boys when they play Fortnite or Minecraft. We want to enjoy the rooms as much as possible and try to eat in at night.
Staycation Tip: We always remind the boys to take note of the exit doors when we go to our rooms. We do a mental drill with them and test what would they do in case fire breaks or earthquake happens.
