Ichiro Ramen-21.jpg

Ichiro Ramen is your BF neighborhood ramen house by George Kho of Burger Geek fame. The name which means firstborn son in Japanese is a tribute to his father and his firstborn son.

Set beside La Chinesca along the famed Aguirre Food Street, its ramen is comparable to the creamy quality of Yushoken but at a more affordable price.

Here’s what we think of Ichiro Ramen…

Ichiro Ramen Menu

Ichiro is a 20-seater ramen house with a bar counter and a few dining tables.

As with Burger Geek, George is self-taught in making Japanese ramen from scratch and tweaking it to Filipino taste buds.

Takoyaki (135)

We love the big takoyaki balls, served with Japanese mayo, takoyaki sauce and bonito flakes, which are being compared to Gindaco in terms of quality.

Shoyu Ramen (280).

We loved the Shoyu ramen more than the Shio. You’ll notice how milky the broth is and how deep the pork flavors are.

They were still perfecting the chashu when we tried it, and it was a bit tough and charred with a blow torch.

Tantan-men (₱330)

I like my ramen spicy because the spice cuts through the milky flavors and makes the ramen more interesting.

Ichiro produces its own noodles, which have just the right thickness to absorb the sauce and the right bounciness to be enjoyed with a good bite.

Aji Tamago (₱50)

We always like to order egg to go with our ramen because of its firm shell and soft yellow center for added flavor.

Service is friendly. Best to order the takoyaki or the karaage while you wait for your ramen being prepared from scratch.

Karaage (₱210)

The fried chicken is crispy on the outside and still juicy inside. Best eaten with a hint of lemon.

Chahan (₱195)

The Japanese fried rice is a meal in itself with egg, bits of meat and their own sauce.

The boys liked it, definitely kid-approved. 🙂

I loved how the flavors are suited and comforting to the Filipino palate. The menu is simple, so start by ordering the Takoyaki and the Karaage first while you wait for your Shoyu or Tantan-men ramen order.

It’s good value for money given its quality and price. Great location along Aguirre. Budget about P500/head.

Check it out if you are craving for ramen when you are in the BF area.
