I’ve lived in the South for my whole life and while I revel in the slow-paced life here compared to the Metro, there are still days when I long for a change of scenery but without having to go far or take the expressway. Tagaytay is always a viable option, but the weekend crowd these days just makes me dread going there. Thanks to a recent media invite, I discovered Anya Resort – a hidden gem in Tagaytay.

Anya Resort Tagaytay is owned by Roxaco Land Corp., the same group behind Fuego Hotels & Properties. Located far from the main highways of Tagaytay, Anya is highly secluded thereby giving utmost privacy and peacefulness.

Here’s my experience at Anya Resort Tagaytay during their first anniversary…

FIRST THINGS FIRST

anya-experience-menu

Prior to my visit at Anya, I received an e-mail for their Experience Menu. I got to indicate my arrival time, my scent of choice (Scent #1), whether I wanted to avail of their packing and unpacking services, and also my dining choices. Filling out the form made me even more excited for my overnight stay.

Upon arrival, a Lifestyle Assistant greeted me with a welcome drink and snack in hand. After filling out a short form, I was escorted to my room.

THE ROOM

oap-anya-8430

The rooms at Anya are separated into villas – each villa with more or less ten (10) rooms each.

oap-anya-8369

Room 506 is on the second floor of Villa 5.

The room maximizes all nooks and crannies without feeling too cramped.

oap-anya-8288

They laid out an anniversary (their 1st, not mine) greeting on the bed, which made me not want to snuggle in it for a really long while. It was too nice to just clean it up right away.

oap-anya-8348

Which is why I just stayed on the couch to catch up on some messages before getting settled.

oap-anya-8320

Other room amenities were neatly tucked away in the closet drawers. There’s also an iron and ironing board inside the other compartment.

oap-anya-8292

There was even a framed photo of me on my bedside table! I’m not sure if this is a regular thing that they do, or if it’s a special anniversary gesture.

oap-anya-8589

On the other bedside table is a clock that doubles as a Bluetooth speaker which I utilized to its full extent – by blasting out movie OSTs at almost 2 in the morning.

oap-anya-8356

The balcony offers a view of the other villas.

oap-anya-8683

While the view from the door are the vast plantations in the surrounding area.

oap-anya-8331

Standard coffee and tea making facilities are hidden underneath the TV console.

oap-anya-washroom

But my absolute favorite part of the room has to be the spacious washroom. There are a separate toilet and bath, and a well-lit vanity area.

oap-anya-8295

The toiletry kit is enclosed in a leather box with a glass window, and each item is individually packed in their signature white and gold boxes.

oap-anya-8361

There’s also enough space for my personal care set.

oap-anya-8301

While the little jars for the bath amenities are noteworthy, I found them to be a little impractical. The conditioner was difficult to dispense. Switching to a pump would be more ideal.

oap-anya-8447

I loved the space so much that I spent an ample amount of time in the washroom getting ready for the anniversary dinner.

ANNIVERSARY DINNER

IMG_5824

The dinner that night was a partnership between Anya’s in-house kitchen headed by Chef Jonathan and the Rambla Group.

oap-anya-8462

They prepared an extensive, festive menu worthy for such a momentous celebration.

oap-anya-8470

We started out with the Tartar de Atun con Mayonesa de Wasabi. This was such a delight! Imagine my excitement when my research led me to find out that it’s available at BCN by Rambla.

oap-anya-8499

I don’t like cold soups but I finished this Beetroot Salmorejo with fuet and quail eggs up to the last drop.

oap-anya-8519

I’ve never had blood sausage before, so having it with the Apple Tatin was a good introduction and led to a good first time experience.

oap-anya-8540

Normally, I stay away from black-colored food during fine dining events, with the fear of staining my teeth and looking like a complete fool during conversations, but I couldn’t help but keep getting spoonfuls of this Paella Negra with mussels, clams, and saffron aioli.

oap-anya-8558

We wrapped up dinner with a refreshing Sandia con Sangria with lime sorbet.

Guests were asked to dress up in a Spanish-inspired attire, but I didn’t have anything like it in my closet, but I did have a dress with rose prints which seemed appropriate.

oap-anya-8572

I retreated to my room right after dinner and found this token waiting on my bed.

oap-anya-8667

But that wasn’t the only surprise of the night – they even filled my tub with water and rose petals (without my request) which made for the perfect ending to my day.

BREAKFAST

oap-anya-8415

I woke up to a gloomy morning the next day, so I wanted to sleep in but decided to check out breakfast first.

oap-anya-8418

Breakfast is served at Anila, their all-day dining restaurant.

oap-anya-8622

I must say, Anya has a very impressive breakfast buffet in terms of distinct items. From mini ham and cheese sandwiches…

oap-anya-8621

to ham sliders…

oap-anya-8613

and their extensive bread selection…

oap-anya-8659

which are the perfect vessels for their homemade jams. The pineapple pear jam has to be my favorite!

oap-anya-8634

Even their cold cuts and cheese selection is remarkable.

oap-anya-8646

But as always, I end up with my usuals – a bowl of cereal, scrambled eggs, tapsilog and some bacon, some yogurt, and a fruit juice.

oap-anya-8649

And also a cup of hot chocolate to battle the chilly weather.

oap-anya-8691

After breakfast, they cleared the tables and live-streamed the Pacquiao match.

oap-anya-8711

However, I wanted to explore more of Anya so I just walked around for a bit. I ended up in the library, and spent a good 30 minutes just browsing through their color-coded selection.

oap-anya-8685

I even found this mini bridge near my villa, which is a useful shortcut from Anila.

oap-anya-8700

I initially wanted to go for a quick dip, but the weather was too gloomy so I decided against it.

oap-anya-8776

Check-out time was looming upon me so I retreated back to the room to pack up and get ready to leave.

FINAL THOUGHTS

oap-anya-8739

I had a wonderful stay at Anya, although an overnight stay felt painfully short. The lifestyle assistant is a nice personal touch, and all the turndown gestures were very much appreciated. The food is excellent too. I’ll be back when the weather is warmer and fitting for a summer escape.

P.S. Anya is included in the list of the world’s best Small Luxury Hotels. What an incredible feat considering they’ve only been around for a little over a year!
