Oktoberfest Solaire

The three-day event will happen on October 17 to 19 from 6 pm to 2 am and will be held at the 2,400 sqm Solaire Oktoberfest Tent. Entrance to the Tent is located at The Gallery, ground floor of The Shoppes.

1. DRESS UP IN GERMAN TRADITIONAL OUTFITS

The German Club & Solaire esteem themselves by making sure your Oktoberfest experience is as genuine as possible. Festivalgoers can expect to see some people in the traditional Bavarian get up like the Lederhosen (for men) or Dirndl (for women).

Dress code is smart casual or German traditional outfit (lederhosen or dirndl).

2. GOOD BAVARIAN FOOD

Oktoberfest Solaire

Oktoberfest would not be complete if we didn’t indulge ourselves with a large selection of Bavarian specialties like pork, beef, or chicken sausages; fresh sauerkraut, a hearty selection of roast meats, decadent pastries like Apple Strudel, Kalserschmarrn and of course, beer.

Here’s what we loved…

Oktoberfest Solaire

Sauerkraut
Sauerkraut is one of the most popular German exports in the world. It is made from finely sliced green cabbage that has been fermented.

Oktoberfest Solaire

Weisswurst
Munich-style poached veal & pork sausage placed in very hot water. Unlike most German sausages its color is white and the texture is smooth. Best paired with traditional sweet mustard. A must try!

Oktoberfest Solaire

Homemade Sausage Sampler
Grilled coarse pork sausage, veal sausage, Swabia red bratwurst, Käsekrainer, sauerkraut, roasted potatoes

The sausage platter was a delight! Try the Käsekrainer- smoky homemade sausages have a bold flavor, made even better by pockets of cheese.

The crowd’s favorite was the grilled coarse pork sausage, characterized by flavorful and chunky texture.

Skip the Swabia red bratwurst.

Spaetzle Pan
Homemade noodles, cream mountain cheese, crispy onion

This German mac and cheese concoction was so addicting and goes well with the sausages and beer!

Oktoberfest Solaire

Pork Schnitzel
The Pork Schnitzel is a boneless meat that is tenderized by a hammer. It is then coated with flour, eggs, breadcrumbs, and fried until crispy.

Oktoberfest Solaire

Apple Strudel
Apple Strudel is the only one we got from decadent pastries to try out during the press con. The apples used were fresh and sweet.

3. FREE-FLOWING BAVARIAN BEER

Oktoberfest Solaire

Did we mention Oktoberfest is a beer festival? You can expect to see many mugs being passed, swung, and chugged all around with all that free-flowing beer!

Oktoberfest does not take beer lightly. Prepare your livers for free-flowing Bavarian beer! Over 25,000 liters of wheat beer and Oktoberfest beer from Weihenstephan, the world’s oldest brewery, will be served during the event.

4. SINGING, DANCING & OOMPAH MUSIC

Oktoberfest Solaire

What is the better way to add the “fest” in Oktoberfest with singing, dancing, and Oompah music? Sway your overflowing mugs to the cheerful tunes of The Bavarian Sound Express! We suggest you start learning how to sing “Ein Prosit”, a very popular German drinking song.

Singing, dancing, and having a good time is all part of the festival. Some might feel a little shy at first, but when more people start singing and dancing, there is no room for embarrassment (especially after a few beers)!

5. DRINKING GAMES

Oktoberfest 2019 will feature plenty of beer along with a variety of exciting games and competitions. Old favorites and new exciting challenges await with exciting prizes in store!

To show the kind of fun to be expected on the 81st Oktoberfest, guests were invited to a beer drinking game and a food relay to test the competitiveness of each player. The gentlemen were given two 500mL steins filled with beer that they must race to finish in record breaking time. The same mechanics apply to ladies, but with only one 500mL stein of beer. Groups got a kick out of the food relay game as each team raced to finish more pretzels and sausages following a heavy serving of German fare. For those who weren’t able to participate, an exciting raffle draw await offering the chance to win coveted prizes.

Don’t miss out the fun and get your tickets for Oktoberfest!
