KALANGGAMAN: Leyte’s Island Paradise! (A Day Trip from Malapascua)

thumb

Kalanggaman Island is a small island paradise located in Palampon, Leyte. It is famous for its crystal clear waters, lush palm trees, and beautiful sandbars on both ends.

The island is also considered one of the most beautiful island beaches in the Philippines. Its has captivated many Filipino and foreign tourists because of its pristine and untouched beauty.

According to locals, Kalanggaman (the Visayan word for “bird”) got its name because it resembles a bird if viewed from above, not to mention the island used to be a paradise for migratory birds many years ago.

OAP Survey 2017: The Best Birthday Gift Ever – The Gift of Feedback?!

Here’s a quick link to the OAP 2017 Survey!

Team OAP

Dear Our Awesome Planet Friends,

Awesome Greetings!

First of all, thank you for all the awesome support for 12 years (since 2005)! Thanks for the honest feedback in the survey last year which greatly influenced my directions for OAP and help me evolved over the years.

After growing old another year, I would like to get feedback on how OAP and Team Our Awesome Planet met your expectation.

Please answer the OAP Annual Birthday Surveyhttps://www.surveymonkey.com/r/OAPSurvey2017

As we plan for the Global Brand expansion of OAP, I want to make sure to incorporate as much feedback as possible on how to continue what’s working, to correct what’s not, and to understand your expectations for OAP for the years to come.

2017 is a tipping point for the digital publishing landscape in the Philippines when most print magazines closed down and now published exclusively online. Also, this is the breakout year for the Filipino Brand – our food, beautiful islands, and our people in the global landscape.

I’m discerning how to expand OAP into a truly global brand rooted in Filipino excellence. Your feedback and comments would be most helpful!

I read ALL the survey feedbacks (both positive and negative) and it directly influences my plans and directions for OAP.

AWESOME THANKS for caring enough to answer this survey!

Live an Awesome Life,

Anton

Founder, www.OurAwesomePlanet.com

P.S. It would mean a lot to me if you answer this annual OAP survey 2017.  It only would take 10 minutes to answer. Awesome Thank you for the Birthday Gift of Feedback!

Hineleban-9.jpg

Hineleban Café (pronounced as hě-nē-leu-bän) is the only farm-to-cup third wave cafe co-located with a bike and surf shop in Manila. Founded by Claudia Perrine and family with the mission to change the way Filipinos appreciate coffee in the Philippines.

The concept of the cafe highlights the traceability of the coffee beans, the process from the farm to your cup, and how it improves the lives of Filipinos and the environment. Talking with the Barista's is like getting a Coffee 101 appreciation on third wave coffee and the Bukidnon coffee ecosystem.

On your next coffee meet in Makati, make sure it's a Hineleban date. Here's what to expect:

A Journey into Taal Volcano’s Crater! (Photo Essay)

by Monique Tendencia

_DSC8521

Taal Volcano is perhaps one of the most well-known and easily recognizable volcanoes in the Philippines – and rightly so. Taal Volcano's unique structure and location make it a constant backdrop and conversation starter.

Inside the crater is a tiny island called Vulcan Point. Its uniqueness remains solely on the fact that it is a third-order island.

What is a third order island?

lol-journeyman-7803

Vulcan Point is the tiny dot inside the crater.

A third order island is any landmass within a lake that reaches the third degree. Vulcan Point is inside the Crater Lake (3rd), which is inside Taal Volcano surrounded by Taal Lake (2nd), which is then inside Luzon Island, a part of the Philippine archipelago, and within the Pacific Ocean (1st).

So how does one reach Vulcan Point?

Cha Cha's

Cha Cha’s breakfast buffet will get you all excited! With an extensive spread, you’ll find not your everyday breakfast items like their signature ube champurrado, breakfast pizzas, waffles in ube sauce, a batchoy noodle station, and an egg station serving 65-degree soft boiled eggs along with eggs benedict.

They also have healthy breakfast options perfect to keep your body fit and beach ready with fresh fruits, house-made yogurt, hummus, and overnight oats to name a few. Or since it’s a vacation, why not cheat a little and make those breakfast endings sweeter with yummy donuts, cakes, and pies!

The best part is that Chef Kalel Chan of Raintree restaurants along with Chef Romy Aumentado and Chef Gilbert Ramos love to evolve and play, around with the menu by changing it six times a week, so there’s always something new to look forward to before starting the day.

CHA CHA’S beach cafe is located inside locally owned Coast Boutique Hotel along station 2 of the vibrant Boracay Island. Besides the awesome beachfront view, the menu and interiors compliment the tropical fun beach vibe.
