LOG CABIN: A Cozy Retreat in Sagada (A 2016 Review)

Untitled

Log Cabin has made a name for itself as a favorite among both locals and tourists in Sagada. This rustic home was transformed into a bar, restaurant, and then lodge in the 90’s by Dave and Janice Gulian.

In its early stages, Log Cabin was a bar exclusively for foreign dignitaries. Food was incorporated into the menu after Dave and Janice returned from Switzerland and experimented with the European palate. A fusion of European and Filipino elements eventually made up the 5-set menu we know today.

Log Cabin is most recognized for its Saturday buffets prepared by French Chef, Philippe Heyer, who has had more than two decades of culinary experience all over the world. Alas, Chef Aklay (his Igorot name) is no longer part of the Log Cabin Family, but the buffet still carries on every week.

PAWIKAN FESTIVAL: Help Save the Turtles!

Pawikan Festival: Bataan

The Pawikan Festival is held yearly at the Pawikan Conservation Center in Morong, Bataan. The main activity here is the releasing of the baby pawikan, which are hatched in the conservation center.

Every year, during the festivities, they invite visitors and thousands of students from the provinces to promote awareness and also be treated to some street dancing, sand sculptures, a showcase of local products, and witnessing how the hatchlings go back to the sea.

Manila’s 8-Hands Dinner to Celebrate CCA Manila’s 20th Anniversary Milestone!

CCA Anniversary Gala

The Center for Culinary Arts (CCA) "8-Hands Anniversary Gala Dinner" is the kick-off event for a week of different celebrations commemorating CCA Manila's 20th year as the leading professional culinary school in the Philippines.

With the theme "Old, Gold, and Bold," four of the country’s top chefs joined hands for a collaboration dinner that reinterpreted international gold prize-winning dishes of CCA students. Each course was made exquisitely bolder by CCA Culinary Director Chef Sau del Rosario, Michelin-starred French Master Chef Christian Tetedoie, Disciples Escoffier International Chairman Robert Fontana, and EDSA Shangri-La’s Executive Pastry Chef Martin Frowd.

Here's a photo essay of the dinner…
