The Festival of the “Paella Gigante” is a collaborative fundraising event for the Sociedad Española de Beneficencia. Every year, this 10-foot-wide Paella Valencia is cooked on the spot by the country’s top chefs from the LTB (Le Toque Blanche).

With the support of the Tourism Promotions Board, Spanish Tourism Board, and Ayala Malls, the Department of Tourism jumpstarted its second month-long “Flavors of the Philippines” campaign with the partnership of Madrid Fusion Manila at Greenbelt Park on March 12, 2016.

Vask Gallery-23.jpg

GALLERY VASK is a showcase of Chef Chele Gonzales’ best dishes and his passion to promote Filipino ingredients, using Spanish techniques and others inspired by his culinary travels. Chef Chele’s signature 15-course Alamat Menu (2016 edition) embodies his greatest culinary creations to date. I think it’s the best degustacion menu in Manila today that highlights our Filipino heritage. Check out Gallery Vask’s 15-Course Alamat experience…

New Black Sheep Manila: Filipino-Chinese Modern Degustacion (A Review)

Blacksheep Manila-15.jpg

The new BLACK SHEEP MANILA is now a progressive Filipino-Chinese restaurant by Chef Patrick Go, featuring a “Filipino-driven menu with influences of Chinese flavor.”

Just to manage your expectations, note that this is totally different from the old Black Sheep in the W building. The owners decided to keep the name and just bring over Chef Patrick from the original Black Sheep crew.

Their selling proposition is the ability to construct your own degustacion menu from the available dishes, which are priced individually, a la carte. Since the menu is quite limited, we decided to just order all the items. Here’s what we think of the new Black Sheep…

Read first: Mt. Pulag Climb: The Day before the Climb (Part 1)

The Hike to the Summit-121.jpg

From the top of Mt. Pulag, seeing the sun rise above a sea of clouds is truly an awesome sight to behold. But perhaps people have over-romanticized climbing the Philippines’ third highest mountain and have downplayed how hard it really is to get all the way up to the summit.

It took us 11 hours, starting from our 1 am jump-off from the Ranger station, to reach the summit and back. Here’s our story…

YALUMBA WINE DINNER: Wine and Gourmet Pairing @NewWorldManila

 Yalumba Wine Dinner

Yalumba Wine Dinner is a 6-course dinner that paired Yalumba wines from Australia's oldest family-owned winery to Executive Chef James Williams' delectable dishes.

The special guest of the evening was Tim Hermann, a wine connoisseur. Having experience in sales and marketing, and vineyard work, he was knowledgeable in many stages of wine production. His talks really made us appreciate the pairings of each dish to each bottle of wine.
