Sodikart, the biggest go-kart manufacturer worldwide, sponsors the Sodi World Series.

Racers of different levels compete on the 674-meter track at City Kart Racing in Circuit Makati for the Sprint, Junior, and Endurance Cup.

Each qualifying event holds two races for each cup—racers can score a maximum of 1,000 points per event. By the end of the year, judges compile the scores and pick the best racers to represent the Philippines in France.

To learn more about the point system and to keep track of your favorite racer’s score, you can check out the official Sodi World Series website.

Chairman of City Kart Racing, Jean-Marc Freihuber, received accreditation in October and now holds official Sodi World Series qualifying races at CKR.

City Kart Racing is the first kart track in South East Asia to hold Sodi World Series races!

Before every race, Jean-Marc reminds all the drivers of the basic rules, regulations, and encourages good sportsmanship to all.

Did you know that not arriving on time for the safety brief results in a penalty?

For a fair competition, each driver draws his or her kart number and track position twice per race.

Typically, drivers are required to wear all their safety equipment—this includes the jumpsuit, helmet, and gloves.

Because the day was scorching hot (some of us ended up getting badly sunburnt) the racers opted to wear the bare minimum.

The minimum age requirement to compete is seven years old, so registering your children into City Kart Racing is very easy!

Although CKR does its best to maintain all karts at optimum level, a breakdown or kart malfunction is part of the nature of racing.

There are mechanics on hand, however, for these kinds of situations.

Sodi World Series

Tension is high while waiting for the race; we could see the impatient shifting of feet as the racers got ready to zoom forward.

Sodi World Series

The track is not easy—having many twists and turns, the CKR track designed by Jean-Marc himself is great practice for the Sodi World Series in Paris.

The high competitiveness of the drivers can cause a few transgressions in sportsmanship.

Hitting the tires results in a 5 second penalty, while bumping another driver results in 10. We suggest you play nice, or you may be disqualified (crew will wave a black flag at you) from the entire event!

There are overseers that ensure the safety of each racer.

Yellow flags indicate danger such as when a car has stalled in front of you, and blue flags means someone is trying to overtake you.

You don’t have to worry about what lap you’re on, since the CKR Girls will make sure you’re on track.

Sodi World Series

As soon as one racer crosses the start/finish line on the final lap first, the race is over.

Although the stakes are high at these qualifying races, Jean-Marc’s vision is to make sure every one has fun no matter what number they finish.

Sodi World Series

Trophy or not, everyone is considered a champion at City Kart Racing. Congratulations to Jean-Marc Freihuber for making racers out of everyone!
