The Henry Manila-128.jpg
THE HENRY HOTEL MANILA is a modern-vintage, 34-room boutique hotel designed by Eric Paras, which sets the bar for adaptive reuse of Manila’s heritage houses.

We celebrated Aidan’s 10th year birthday with a staycation at The Henry Manila, and here’s our experience…

Here’s Aidan’s birthday video at the Henry Hotel.

The Henry Manila-60.jpg
The Main House is where the 24-hour front desk and the Apartment 1B restaurant are located. On the second floor is the Owner’s Suite and 5 Classic Rooms.

The Henry Manila-144.jpg
There are 4 heritage houses with preserved facades. Each house is configured with 6 classic rooms + 1 suite room.

The Henry Manila-159.jpg
You are greeted by the lovely reception ladies wearing The Henry Hotel’s signature quirky eye glasses.

The Henry Manila Classic Room #704

The Henry Manila-132.jpg
The classic room feels as if you’re actually staying in your own ancestral house with a 2nd floor view.

The Henry Manila-133.jpg
Each room has a nice study table and telephone service.

The Henry Manila-130.jpg
The restroom is white, with a chic-yet-vintage design.

The Henry Manila Suite Room #301

The Henry Manila-2.jpg
We stayed in a suite room, which was perfect for our family of 2 adults and 4 children.

The Henry Manila-3.jpg
The master’s bedroom.

The Henry Manila-6.jpgClassic bathtub.

The Henry Manila-176.jpg
The boys loved the bathtub, but since it’s integrated into the room, they would get cold if the air-conditioning is on.

The Henry Manila-5.jpg
The cute, spacious white restroom is standard across all room types.

The Henry Manila-17.jpg
They have generic toiletries, so it’s best to bring your own.

The Henry Manila-24.jpg
The living room has a day bed where the boys can sleep.

The Henry Manila-56.jpg
Each suite room opens up to a mini-garden where you can hang out for coffee and read the papers.

The Henry Manila-55.jpg
The living room gets converted into a playroom and the TVs have HDMI ports for the kids’ Playstation.

The Henry Manila-162.jpg
I love the spacious working table and the room’s decent WiFi connection, which allowed me to still work.

The Henry Manila-9.jpg
I like the hotel’s attention to detail shown in little things, like this recycled basket and their own coffee blend.

Our Birthday Boy…how time flies! The blog is as old as Aidan! 🙂

Apartment 1B Dinner

The Henry Manila-41.jpg
Apartment 1B was on soft opening, so it had a limited food selection in the A la Carte Comfort Food Menu. It was also only open for lunch/dinner for in-house guests.

The Henry Manila-42.jpg
It has a private room that can accommodate about 16-20 people.

The Henry Manila-43.jpg
House Salad (P280). Walnuts, grapes, blue cheese, raspberry vinaigrette.

The salad is simple with fresh greens and sweet vinaigrette sauce.

The Henry Manila-44.jpg
Spaghetti Vongole (P380). Manila clams, tomatoes, basil, white wine, olive oil, garlic.

The boys loved the vongole, especially the flavor of the Manila clams.

The Henry Manila-45.jpg
Roasted Half Chicken (P590). Fresh herbs, garlic mashed potatoes, lemon, garlic, sauteed vegetables.

The roast chicken serving size is big enough to share, and the taste is simple but good.

The Henry Manila-46.jpg
Beef Burger (P550). U.S. Angus ground beef, wheat bun, tomato, lettuce, cucumber with Australian cheddar cheese & bacon.

We love the beef burger–very juicy and with a thick patty. 🙂

The Henry Manila-47.jpg
✮ Frozen Pie (P210). Vanilla ice cream, Oreo crust, walnuts, chocolate & caramel sauce.

The frozen pie was so yummy that we had to fight over it. 🙂

Apartment 1B Breakfast

The Henry Manila-75.jpg
The Apartment 1B Breakfast Menu is limited to Filipino egg breakfast, with vegetarian and continental options. It’s simple and satisfying but nothing to rave about.

The Henry Manila-66.jpg
Assorted bread, butter and jams, cereal and milk, mixed salad greens with raspberry vinaigrette, fresh sliced fruits in season, drip coffee, tea or chilled juice.

The Henry Manila-68.jpg
Bangus (marinated milkfish) with two eggs cooked any style, and home fries or rice.

The Henry Manila-69.jpg

The Henry Manila-70.jpg
Smoked Bacon with two eggs cooked any style, and home fries or rice.

The Henry Manila-76.jpg
French Toast

The Henry Manila-78.jpg
Salted Caramel Chocolate Torte (P220). Almond shortbread crust.

The birthday cake for the birthday boy.

Artist Enclave

The Henry Manila-103.jpgInside the compound is fashion designer Jojie Lloren’s atelier and Albert Avellana’s gallery of extraordinary art, which is open to select clients and by appointment basis only.

The Henry Manila-83.jpg
It’s fun to explore interior designer Eric Paras’ furniture store, with three heritage houses converted into a furniture gallery.

Here are the various furniture items and home design inspirations we liked…

Staycation Activities

The Henry Manila-141.jpg
The IP Santos lawn is a nice place to play with the kids in the morning.

The Henry Manila-53.jpg
In the evening, the compound is well-lighted and photogenic.

The Henry Manila-54.jpg
It’s also nice to hang out by the Garden Pool at night.

The Henry Manila-136.jpg
Beside The Henry Manila is the Daughters of St. Paul compound where you can buy religious articles and hear Sunday Mass. Call +632 831-1723 for the mass schedules.

Hot Star-4.jpg
The Blue Bay Walk is the nearest mall where you can eat. You can go to the Hot Star Philippines flagship store for lunch.

The Henry Manila-178.jpg
We love the ancestral house feel of the rooms with a modern-vintage design by Eric Paras. Reserve the suite rooms if you’re going with your kids.

Make sure to tour the Eric Paras furniture shop after breakfast, relax and hang out in the IP Santos lawn in the morning, and by the Garden Pool at night.

Apartment 1B is on soft opening with a limited menu for now. But we love their Beef Burger and Frozen Pie. 🙂

Overall, this is a great place to go on staycation and celebrate a special occasion, or just to showcase Filipino heritage house accommodations to your tourist or balikbayan guests.
