DOMICILLO is the newest boutique hotel in Tagaytay designed by Budji Layug. It’s the latest passion project of handicraft designer and exporter Rene Alcala of Manila Mirrors fame

Here’s a first look at Domicillo for your next romantic escape in Tagaytay …

We celebrated our 12th year wedding anniversary with a memorable Tagaytay escape with the family!

Domicillo soft-opened last December 2014 with 8 rooms. Its main restaurant La Finca is still under construction, in time for a Feb/March opening.

Main Floor

Domicillo Mornings-37.jpg
The main reception area is on the left and La Finca, a farm-to-table inspired restaurant, is on the far end.

Domicillo-28.jpg
The main reception area is like a gallery of furniture, jewelry, and art collections.

Domicillo-27.jpg
We love these circular Manila Mirrors, shaped like the sun, with wood and mirror rays.

Roof Deck

Domicillo-3.jpg
One level above is a roof deck with another restaurant and a common veranda.

Domicillo Mornings-35.jpg
It has one of the most best views of the Taal Volcano and lake.

Upper Lake View Floor

Domicillo Mornings-22.jpg
One level below the Main floor is where the 3 Deluxe Garden View Rooms and 2 Upper Lake View Rooms are located.

Domicillo Mornings-21.jpg
This is also where the common lounge area can be found.

Domicillo Mornings-33.jpg
Imagine having breakfast with this awesome view of the lake–like a live painting on the wall.

Lower Lake View Floor

Domicillo Tagaytay-3.jpg
There are 3 Premier Lower Lake View Rooms on the lowest floor.

Domicillo Mornings-16.jpgReserve these rooms because they’re more private and secluded.

Domicillo Tagaytay-10.jpg
Premier Lower Lake View Room 101 is the best because of the unobstructed view of the lake.

Domicillo Tagaytay-8.jpg
The design of the room is spacious, with a very comfortable bed, and minimalist with wooden furnitures and paintings by RM de Leon.

Domicillo Tagaytay-7.jpg
Love the restrooms but I hope they can provide better organic toiletries.

Here’s a view of the room from the garden outside.

The garden view…

You wake up every morning to this awesome view of the Tagaytay sunrise.

La Finca Breakfast

Domicillo Mornings-28.jpg
Breakfast is currently served by La Finca in the lounge area until the restaurant is completed.

Domicillo Mornings-29.jpg
They serve Filipino meals with rice, egg, and your choice of fish, longganisa…

…or ham (for the kids).

Domicillo-12.jpg
On our second breakfast, we were served one of the best Arroz Caldo I’ve tasted, with big chunks of chicken topped with adobo flakes.

Domicillo-9.jpg
It was also a real treat to have danggit for breakfast!

Domicillo-18.jpg
Best breakfast combination–danggit with vinegar, tomato salsa, and garlic rice! 🙂

Domicillo-21.jpg
Dessert is a plate of fresh fruits available in the market, and it’s usually pineapple juice for drinks.

Domicillo-14.jpg
Congrats to Butch Zaldarriaga and partner Joel Esguerra for the good breakfast food at La Finca! 🙂

TIP: Request to have your breakfast on the roofdeck if possible.

Domicillo-29.jpg
Congrats to Rene Alcala for the tastefully designed boutique hotel! Tagaytay needs more of this!

Note: You can order the Manila Mirrors you see around the hotel and have them custom-designed to your specifications.

Domicillo Tagaytay-13.jpg
We love the design of the hotel and the awesome view of the Taal volcano and lake. The breakfast is decent; we can’t wait for La Finca to open.

The acoustics of the place needs improvement because you can hear when somebody is having a good time in another part of the hotel.

Make sure to also check out the Budji Royal-designed Qi Wellness Secret Tea House & Bath House for tea time and romantic massage. 🙂
