Sundays in Berlin-239.jpg

We stayed in MOTEL ONE, a leading low budget designer motel brand in Europe, located in Alexanderplatz, the heart of the transportation hub in Berlin.

Here’s our Motel One Berlin-Alexanderplatz experience…

We flew for 18 hours via KLM from Manila – Ninoy Aquino Intl Airport (MNL)  with a stop over in Taipei and arrived in Amsterdam – Schiphol (AMS) just in time for sunrise.

After an hour layover in Schipol airport, we flew via KLM to Berlin via Tegel Airport (TXL).

Tegel is a small airport located in North-West Berlin. It’s like a small provincial airport where you just get your bag, and go out of the terminal.

(Note: Berlin does not have a big international airport yet.)

You can get a taxi conveniently outside the airport to bring you to your hotel.

We drove through West Berlin going to the East side for 20 minutes.

Motel One is designed like a boutique hotel with straight forward amenities.

Get a map and get a bearing on where you are and the different transportation options.

The room is simple and reminds me of iTune budget hotels with an efficient layout, and no telephone in the room.

Sundays in Berlin-231.jpg
I have a nice view of the Fernsehturm, the Berlin TV Tower, which is a landmark in Central Berlin.

The toilet has an effective layout, small but not cramped.

Sundays in Berlin-235.jpg
It has a cold & hot shower and very clean.

The toiletries are OK, and I would recommend bringing your own shampoo.

Breakfast is included every morning.

MOTEL ONE Breakfast-2.jpg
It’s a spread out buffet of continental breakfast.

Overall, I would highly recommend this cheap designer hotel with a good location in Alexanderplatz and a decent continental breakfast buffet.
