LEMURIA: French Degustation with Wine Pairing of Lemuria’s Bestsellers! @LemuriaGourmet

LEMURIA Infinity 8-2.jpg

LEMURIA is a private dining French restaurant conceptualized by Mrs. Marina “Kitt” Schroeder, hidden in Horseshoe Village, Quezon City. It’s name is inspired by the mystery behind the lost continent of Lemuria.

The cozy dining area is located on top of the Brumms Quality Wine Cellar, with a curated wine list from Germany, Austria, Romania, and other boutique wineries the Shroeders love.

After 8 years, it continues to be one of the most romantic garden restaurants in Manila. It never fails to lure lovely couples to dine because of its charm, focus on quality, and personal touch.

It’s a bit nostalgic, reminiscing my initial post about this place: Lemuria’s Mystique – a Romantic Restaurant in the Metro, and revisiting Lemuria after almost 8 years.

RAMADHAN International Bazaar: The Ramadhan Experience in Bonifacio Global City! @MercatoCentrale

Ramadhan International Bazaar-47.jpg

The RAMADHAN International Bazaar is a 38-day event showcasing the culture of our local Muslim communities. It also aims to serve certified Ḥalāl food for our Muslim brothers when they break their fast at sundown of Ramadhan.

It’s open to all and is meant to foster a better understanding of Ramadhan, and give everyone the chance to savor the flavors of Halal food.

Ḥalāl food is food prepared according to Islamic Law. Pork is not allowed and certain meats should be processed properly the Halal way.

Here’s a photo essay of what to expect at the RAMADHAN International Bazaar at Mercato Centrale…

Maître Fromagier
Gérard Poulard

Sofitel's J’Adore Le Fromage: 101 Cheeses by Maître Fromagier Gérard Poulard
In celebration of Bastille Day (French National Day on July 14), Sofitel Philippines is featuring renowned Maître Fromagier Gérard Poulard, together with 100 premium and artisan cheeses (about P1M worth) from different high quality farms flown in from France.

We attended the recently held media preview and it was quite interesting to learn about the French’s love for cheese. It was also good to learn how best to enjoy cheese from a French Cheese Master.

I would like to share with you my favorite cheeses from Gérard Poulard’s collection and my latest discoveries about cheese…

BASKIN-ROBBINS Back in Manila! (A Review)

What’s your favorite
Baskin Robbins flavor?

BASKIN ROBBIN BGC-32.jpg
BASKIN-ROBBINS is America’s Favorite Neighborhood Ice Cream Shop, founded by brothers-in-law Burt Baskin and Irv Robbins in 1945. The brand was last seen in Manila more than a decade ago but has now made a comeback. The timing couldn’t be more right, because Manileños have been craving for better ice creams. 🙂

We had to wait for close to 2 hours on Baskin Robbins’ opening weekend, but it was well worth it. Part of the fun is in choosing from 31 delicious flavors and customizing how you want to enjoy your ice cream.

Here’s a photo essay of our Baskin Robbins experience last weekend in BGC…

PURPLE YAM MALATE: A Taste of Reimagined Filipino Food and Revival of Malate?! @PurpleYamNYC

PURPLE YAMMY!

PURPLE YAM Malate-41.jpg

PURPLE YAM MALATE is the local branch of the popular Purple Yam Modern Filipino Restaurant in Brooklyn, New York. It was founded in 2007 by Amy Besa and Chef Romy Dorotan of Cendrillon fame in Soho. Its name was inspired by the owner’s love of ube. 🙂

The Malate branch is only open on weekends now open every day for by-reservation private dining — dinner on Fridays and Saturdays, and brunch on Sundays (no more brunch on Sundays). The owners describe their restaurant as a “serious dining” establishment (as opposed to a fine dining one).

The opening of Purple Yam is sure to create a buzz among the foodies in Manila and hopefully usher in the revival of Malate.

Rache and I brought the boys with us to try the Sunday brunch during their opening weekend. Here’s what we think…
