HOWZAT: Makati’s Indian Curry Buffet Friday :)

Thanks to Tina for picking an awesome meeting place for Friday lunch! 🙂

HOWZAT is a 24/7 Sports Bar in Makati popular among expats and sports fanatics who love watching live coverages of their favorite sporting events such as the FIFA World Cup and Ultimate Fighting Championships.

They are also known for their Sunday Roast Buffet and Friday Indian Curry Buffet. Their Indian food reminds me of what I’ve tasted in London.

Here are some tips before you try this out…

HOWZAT SPORTS BAR: INDIAN BUFFET
8471 Kalayaan Ave., Poblacion, Makati City
Indian Curry Buffet Every Friday 12nn-3pm
P495/head with SMB on the house.
Telephone: +632 897-3335
Website: http://howzat.ph/

Howzat has a European sports pub ambiance whose usual patrons are expats in the Makati area. I felt out of place here.

On the way to the restroom, you should see the “BUFFET – Curry Lunch every Friday” sign.

This is the door to the secret room where private functions and the buffet are held.

The Indian Curry Buffet is set up on the left side with 3 stations: Main Buffet Station, Salad Station, and Soup, Naan, & Samosa Station.

They don’t accept reservations so it’s best to be there early before the buffet starts.

Start of with the Salad Station.

Tom Yum soup was served and it was hot and spicy.

The samosas are really good — crunchy on the outside and generous filling on the inside.

You can have the papadums with your curry or the freshly rolled naans.

The naans are pan grilled then served with butter.

You have 10 dishes in the buffet, which change a bit every Friday.

Tandoori Chicken and Chicken Vindaloo.

HOWZAT Friday Indian Curry Buffet-15.jpg
This was the best for me — Lamb Curry back to back with the Beef Curry. The meats are very tender with a balanced curry flavor.

Potato Keema and Palak Paneer.

HOWZAT Friday Indian Curry Buffet-17.jpg
For vegetarians, they serve a vegetable version, and Fish Curry for the pescetarians.

The curries are best paired with the Biryani rice, but some prefer the Basmati Rice if you want it plain.

HOWZAT Friday Indian Curry Buffet-22.jpg
I love the lamb curry, beef curry, palak paneer, tandoori chicken with the biryani rice, paired with San Miguel Super Dry. All for P495/head only!

I love Gregory Guy’s Mango Cheesecake, which Tina brought to end our Indian Curry meal.

Howzat’s Indian buffet is really good and sulit for its price. The sports bar ambiance can feel a bit dodgy at first if you’e not used to going to these places.

I love the secret room effect and the feeling of finding something good in the otherwise commercialized Makati area.

Arrive earlier to secure a parking slot along the Kalayaan Avenue. It’s best to be there before the buffet starts.

  1. Hi, Anton how are you? The place is very nice. Parang namasyal ako nito. Anyway, this is the same or similar Indian restaurant that I’ve visited here in San Francisco Area. I love Indian foods especially their curry dishes. PHP 495/head is not bad because here in San Francisco is $9/head (lunch) and $15 (dinner and weekends). Honestly, their foods are healthier than with other cuisines because many of their dishes are vegetables. The people in southern Indian region are vegetarian while the northern part are eating meat like chicken, goat, and lamb. Thanks for sharing this restaurant to us. My favorite Indian restaurant are Bombay Garden and The Taste of India (both in Fremont, California). Have a nice day always.

  2. I haven’t been to Howzat more than a few times, but next time I’m back in Makati, I’ll check out this buffet for sure. Great blog you have here on Phils intel!!! Kudos!

  3. Is this near any SM supermarkets or malls because I really would like to go 🙂 I’ve never been anywehere in Manila that serves a variety of Indian curry apart from Filipino curry which I find so mild because of the strong use of coconut and lack of spice. if you could also recommend any curry house anywhere around Manila please 🙂 Thankyou.
    P.s I love your website!! 🙂
