HOWZAT is a 24/7 Sports Bar in Makati popular among expats and sports fanatics who love watching live coverages of their favorite sporting events such as the FIFA World Cup and Ultimate Fighting Championships.

They are also known for their Sunday Roast Buffet and Friday Indian Curry Buffet. Their Indian food reminds me of what I’ve tasted in London.

THE PERFECT PINT is a gastropub by the Tempongko brothers. It showcases Filipino Food by Chef Gene Gonzalez, paired with the best of Craft Beers in the Philippines.

It’s inspired by research on the ideal environment to drink a pint of beer, which concluded that: 

“The maximum satisfaction is found to occur at an ambient temperature of 17.6 degrees Celsius, with just over two days until you are due back in work, between three and four people with you, all in good spirits, with quiet music and widely available food and snacks.”  (via Mindlab Intelligent Insights)

KYOCHON PHILIPPINES: Inventor of Double-Fried Korean Fried Chicken Technique Opens in Manila! @KYOCHONPH @SMMegaMall

KYOCHON, which started the double-fried chicken craze in South Korea in 1991, is finally in the Philippines! But Filipinos are not that familiar with the brand despite its #1 double-fried chicken status in Korea. 

(For reference, BonChon was founded in 2002 but they are more popular because they were first to enter New York in 2007, while KyoChon entered Manhattan only in 2010. Similarly, BonChon had a head start in Manila in 2010.)

The double-fried chicken technique was invented to remove the fatty oils from the chicken and still make the skin crunchy and flavorful. KyoChon takes pride in the fact that their chicken has no glacial acetic acid, sodium saccharine, and MSG. They also use canola oil with zero transfat to fry their chicken. 🙂

I’m happy that they are finally here in Manila!

LARTIZAN is the artisanal French Bakery, Restaurant, and Tea Salon of the French Baker founder, Johnlu Koa.

It started as a boulangerie in partnership with Mickey’s Delicatessen along Jupiter Street. Now, it has transformed into a French Cafe, with authentic French pastries and baked products, and a European cafe ambiance.

I love their signature teas from Mariage Frères in Paris.

PROST: Nurnberger Spiral and Mr. Braumeister Craft Beer @ProstBraumeister

PROST is a German Restaurant & Bar in Bonifacio Global City. They serve good German comfort food and their own signature craft beer Mr. Braumeister — in collaboration with Craft Point Brew.

The restaurant is named after the traditional German toast, where you look into the eyes of each person and say “prost!” before clinking your beer glass.

Prost is owned by Dom Hernandez, his German friend Marc Von Grabowski, celebrity Sam Milby, and Stef Zanirato.

WANDERLAND 2014 Hangover! #TakeMeBackToWanderland @wanderlandfest

WANDERLAND is the hippest Music & Arts Festival in the Philippines. It is unofficially the Coachella of Manila with indie band performances, live art, and imaginative experiences.

Wanderland 2014 is headlined by American indie pop band from New York, The Drums and with performances from a five piece indie folk troupe from Melbourne – The Paper Kites, and Brisbane quartet Last Dinosaurs. The music fest best performance for the night was from the Swedish breakout indie rock band – The Royal Concept.

Congratulations to all the hip Wanderers and to Karpos for the awesome Wanderland 2014!
