We celebrated Ahiya Pierre’s 41st birthday in one of the best Chinese seafood restaurants along Escolta — Uno Seafood Wharf Palace. I was happy to learn that it is owned by the same people behind our favorite comfort Chinese restaurant, Lutong Macao, along Jupiter St.
The Lauriat Set Menu starts from P4,800 to P9,900 with 9 to 11 courses (including dessert). But we preferred to order the dishes on an ala carte basis, served lauriat-style.
They serve fresh seafood direct from their aquarium.

Interestingly, they serve drink-all-you-can iced tea, mineral water, and Pepsi sodas for only P700 per table. 🙂 Don’t drink the soda immediately, though, if you don’t want to ruin your appetite for the yummy food ahead.
The lauriat started with Birthday Noodles–this dish was a hit among the kids. Although I’m not too fond of this type of noodles, I liked Uno’s version, which was not too salty or oily, and had a lot of flavor in the noodles. Sarap!
The Fish Lip Soup was a nice substitute for shark’s fin, and it tasted good when mixed with the black vinegar.
The Yang Chow looked really yummy, and the large serving was good enough for 12 people. I enjoyed the balance of flavors in the rice with its chunks of shrimps and meat.
We loved the seaweed and century eggs. My father-in-law even commented that the kikiam was similar to the ones made by Ama, which says a lot about how good the food was.
The beef was really soft, but the sauce was a bit too sweet for my taste. I loved eating the onion slices to temper the sweetness.
After all these years, I’m still not fond of eating crispy pigeon. Rache loved it because it was soft, not rubbery, and it did not have that malansa taste.
It’s a good alternative for the usual Lapu-Lapu. We love our fish steamed and served with soy sauce.
The crabs were equally good with fat crab claws. Even though the garlic flavor was a bit subtle, nothing beats the taste of freshly steamed crabs! 🙂
The only thing I did not like about the lauriat was the mango sago. It seemed diluted and lacked in flavor. 🙁
The Masachi was a better sweet ending to the lauriat. It had just the right sweet and peanut-y taste.
Not bad for approx. P562.50 per person for a really good Chinese meal with unlimited drinks. 🙂
