New Year's Eve Party in Manila

The BEST New Year’s Eve Parties in Manila to Welcome 2012!

12/26/2019: New Year’s Eve Party Ideas: Manila Countdown to 2020!

Fireworks at Eastwood

The Eastwood Mall Quezon City Countdown is picking up steam as one of the most anticipated countdowns on New Year’s eve. It is Manila’s answer to New York’s Times Square Countdown — with the best bands, the coolest fireworks and, this year, the Star Drop at 12mn.

The countdown will be led by Mr. Pure Energy himself, Gary Valenciano, with his sons Paolo and Gab Valenciano, and the Adlibb dancers. Witness the stellar performances of local artists like Billy Crawford, The Dawn, Amber Davis, Urbanation, and Philippine All Stars.

The program is for free at the Eastwood Mall Open Park, 6pm onwards.

Sendong Charity Efforts:
Eastwood Mall has a drop box at the concierge for donations. The Eastwood Foundation and the Holy Family Chapel are donating 1 Million Pesos to the Sendong Rehabilitation efforts.

Romi Garduce’s Seventh Summit Quest: Vinson Massif, Antarctica

PITO para sa PILIPINO-2.jpg

I’ve been supporting and blogging about Romi Garduce’s quest to conquer the seven summits ever since OAP started. (See: 21 posts categorized “Filipino Seven Summiter)

He is a former IT colleague from Procter & Gamble Philippines. I can still remember my first-ever fun climb to the summit of Mt. Maculot in Batangas, which he initiated. He’s always loved the mountains and  “kinikilig” when he is on top of the summit.

He became popular when he and his two other Filipino companions successfully reached the top of Mt. Everest in May 2006. He personally inspired me when he shared with us an experiential account and inspirational talk about his successful climb up Everest. (see: Romi’s Everest and My One Big Dream. What’s your Everest?)

In the office, Romi is known as a happy-go-lucky person, but when it comes to mountain climbing or diving, he is the take-charge guy, the person you want to be with because you know you’ll be safe with him.

This Christmas 2011/New Year 2012, he is finally completing his 10-year quest to be the First Filipino to ever reach the seven highest summits in the seven continents!

Here is a photo timeline of Romi’s “Seven Summits” Quest:

My Kitchen by Chef Chris Locher

My Kitchen by Chef Chris-34.jpg

Chef Chris Locher, the man behind the popular C’ Italian Dining in Angeles, Pampanga, has finally opened a restaurant in Manila! A lot of foodies are quite excited about this latest development.

It is named My Kitchen by Chef Chris, and it replaces the Barramundi Restaurant of The Oasis Hotel in Paco Park. Yes, you have to brave the traffic of Manila to get there (but it is still nearer than driving all the way to Clark Field in Angeles).

Here is a first look at My Kitchen by Chef Chris…

Mio Gelati is best known for its gelato innovations in Midnight Mercato, offering not only the classic cream- and fruit-based flavors but also alcoholic ones and special premium flavors.

Recently, they introduced the first Mio Gelati Mobile in Distrito and they presented the Mochilato (gelato nicely tucked in a mochi ball) in UTT 7.0. I love it because of its soft mochi cover and delicious gelato taste.

Congratulations, Mio Gelati, for winning the Top 2 spot in Ultimate Taste Test 7.0!

Ultimate Taste Test 7.0!-70.jpg

This is an interesting new discovery in the Ultimate Taste Test series.

Most of the foodies were raving about this Five-Hour Roasted Japanese Lechon by The Specialty Kitchen that night. It’s indeed a wonderful way to address the Filipinos’ love for Lechon. It’s tender, crispy and has Japanese glaze — Sarap!

They also served this creamy gelatinous dessert called Black Sambo.

If you are looking for something unique this holiday season, check out the Five-Hour Roasted Japanese Lechon with Crispy Skin and Marj’s Black Sambo by The Specialty Kitchen.

Congratulations, The Specialty Kitchen, for placing third in UTT 7.0!
