My Cheers Moments @ Rockwell’s Ultimate Taste Test

This was a very special Ultimate Taste Test (UTT) for us.

For background info, please read these first:
OAP | The Ultimate Food Trip happens in Rockwell on September 3
OAP | The Foodies’ Guide to Rockwell’s Ultimate Taste Test

We loved collaborating with Rockwell for the 6th staging of this taste test series (in just 3 years!). We had a total of 1,000+ foodies, 53 food vendors and Manila’s top food bloggers who supported this event.

This was the first time that we held it in Rockwell and the first time we had a 9-hour UTT.

Here are my Cheers Moments in photos of the ultimate gastronomic taste event in Manila…

10.00 am (Before the event)

We were excited to see all the posters, billboards and banners around Rockwell. 🙂

The Creative Juice team made this event almost flawless. They organized all the Ultimate Taste Test events and have been with us from the start. 🙂

The stage is set, the food vendors are excited and the foodies can’t wait to savor the yummy food! 🙂

Tales from the TummyMy Top 10 Picks from Ultimate Taste Test 6.0

11.00 am (1st hour count: 238 foodies)

Our ultimate foodie hosts Spanky and Marian opened the Ultimate Taste Test event. 🙂

The first two products I tasted that day were awesome — Fruit Garden’s Lychee Berry Rose (new flavor) and Carmen’s Best Malted Milk.

I was happy that my blogger friend Lori of DessertComesFirst finally experienced an UTT event. 🙂

12.00 nn (2nd hour count: 149 foodies)

It was just fun hanging out with people and enjoying food at the same time. 🙂

Each ticket came with one San Miguel beer. My favorite for food pairing is the Premium All Malt. It was a perfect match for Luigi Muhlach’s Phillychanga, which was a favorite for the night. 🙂

Keystone’s acoustic music entertained foodies and vendors alike during the event.

Sira ang Diet! BlogWhat You Missed From UTT 6.0

1.00pm (3rd hour count: 150 foodies)

UTT 6.0 participants kept on talking about Casa Empanada’s Chocolate and Bacon empanada. Ang sarap nga!

We had a mini-reunion with my P&G barkada — Mong with wife Jackie and Willeus with wife Shai.

Another surprising foodie discovery: Chef C’s Paella de Andaluz. 🙂

2.00pm (4th hour count: 165 foodies)

We had a lot of cupcakes during the UTT event, but Baked by Anita’s Roasted Strawberry topped with Caramelized Balsamic was the ultimate cupcake for me. I like it more than their Bacon n’ Maple.

The pretty ladies of Rockwell who believed in the UTT concept and supported it all the way. 🙂

If you love the premium frozen yogurt of Yoh Gee, you’ve got to try their Frozen Kefir!

3.00pm (5th hour count: 160 foodies)

My cousin-in-law, Chef Francis Lim of People’s Palace fame and now Nav Thai restaurant, cheerfully provided a culinary demo of his specialty dish.

Another foodie discovery for me — Spicy Wasabi Hotdogs! (To be honest, I wanted it to be more spicy, though. 🙂 )

The boys joined us and enjoyed their own Ultimate Taste Test of cupcakes, ice cream and juice. 🙂 This is the boys’ version of a wacky shot — they pretended to sleep in this family photo.

Azrael’s MerrylandUltimate Taste Test 6.0 – collected swags, flyers and calling cards

4.00pm (6th hour count: 85 foodies)

Last May 2010, during UTT 4.0, my partner RJ pitched the idea of holding a “weekly UTT event”. That brilliant spark gave birth to the popular Mercato Centrale @ BGC last November. And now, we are expanding the concept to the south, which will be called Soderno @ Molito.

Erica Paredes joined UTT 3.0, where she won the hearts (and taste buds) of foodies with her Happy Bacon Chocolate creation.

It was fun meeting the Foodie Friends of Our Awesome Planet! 🙂

5.00pm (7th hour count: 102 foodies)

Marian interviewed me for our post-video feature of the Ultimate Taste Test. 🙂

It was great to see P&G people in the Ultimate Taste Test! I miss my P&G days…

My favorite gourmet cheese — Chevre with Cashew & Truffle Oil made by a Gawad Kalinga community. Thanks to Xilca for introducing this cheese to all the foodies! 🙂

Animetric’s WorldMy top ten picks at Rockwell’s Ultimate Taste Test!

6.00pm (8th hour count: 82 foodies)

The UTT event makes a great bonding experience for foodie groups who really appreciate good eats. 🙂

This is Raphael’s first Ultimate Taste Test!

Thanks to our Starcomm and San Miguel friends for supporting OAP and the UTT events! 🙂

CertifiedFoodies.com | Certified Foodies at the Ultimate Taste Test 6.0

7.00pm (The last hour count: 34 foodies)

It was fun mingling with a lot of Manila’s Top Food Bloggers that night. 🙂

Jill Ngo‘s Goddesses of Bellydance, the premier belly dance group in Manila, capped the event with an enchanting belly dance.

It was truly an awesome UTT. I actually like the long taste test format versus the 3-hour dinner event. But we might shorten it to 6 hours next time or do a 3-day Taste Test festival. 🙂

8.00pm (After the event)

Super thanks to our partner, San Miguel Lifestyle Brews, for sponsoring Rockwell’s Ultimate Taste Test!

The ultimate foodie family of Ted Capacillo supported the event until the very end. 🙂 It would be fun and interesting to know his top 10 picks during Rockwell’s UTT.

To Aidan —  here is a historic shot for you because one of these days you’ll be running these Ultimate Taste Test events. 🙂

  1. me and my bestfriend was there from opening til almost closing… hahaha… worth it and fun.. haven’t had the time to blog it yet though.. it was our first time since I always came to know the past UTTs when tickets are already sold out… buti na lang i was able to experience UTT before i leave the country.. 🙂

  2. Congratulations and thank you so much for giving food entrepreneurs the opportunity to participate at the UTT! It was fun meeting and serving people of my cousin’s empanadas (Casa Empanada of The Flying Chef). I really loved the festive atmosphere and I was lucky enough to try the extra samples shared by the other vendors minutes before the closing (Now, I am craving for Anita’s Cupcake with the caramelized balsamic vinegar and the green tea cupcake by another vendor – I hate you, South Beach Diet!). Next year, I will not eat for a week and get myself a passport on your next Ultimate Taste Test!

  3. being our first outing, it was indeed a great day for us meeting foodies and experiencing this wonderful event. . . thank you for giving us the chance to showcase our smoked pork ribs…
    all the best !

I’m always looking forward to check out your blogs and I’d like to know more about the companies that made it to your list of UTT 6.0. Hope you can write all of the winners soon. Thank you very much!
