MeiDolls Cosplay Cafe in Manila

MeiDolls Cafe is the first Maid Cosplay Cafe in the Philippines. The attendants are dressed in French Maid costumes and make diners feel like they are masters and mistresses in a private home.

The concept is cute and the cosplayers are great. The food they serve is comfort food, priced affordably at around P100/dish. Just lower your expectations regarding the food and ambiance, and you’ll have a great time. 🙂

To check it out, we braved the Ortigas Avenue Extension traffic. Here is our MeiDolls Cafe experience…

Give the Gift of Education (The PEARLS Scholarship Program)

(I believe in their advocacy and I want to help them get as many scholars as they can. – Anton)

Project PEARLS & Photo Kalye believe education is the BEST hope for breaking free from poverty. Help a child reach their full potential and provide them a gift that will take them places they've only so far dreamed of..

Our children in Ulingan, students from grade 1 to grade 6 who rank in the top three of their respective grade levels will be eligible for the PEARLS Scholarship.

These scholarships will not only help the economic burden of their families but more importantly will encourage our children to strive harder with their education and to dream bigger.

Grades, attendance and their overall health will be monitored by our PEARLS Scholarship committee. Regular updates of the child's status will be sent to the sponsors.

The total annual cost is P7,200 or $180 and this will cover two sets of school uniforms, a pair of shoes, school bag with school supplies, allowance for their fare, food, school projects and school field trip expenses and other extra school supplies needed.

Sponsorship can be paid quarterly (P1800 or $45) or annually (P7200 or $180). For $15 a month, less than a $1 a day or $180 a year, you can make a huge difference in the life of a child who has almost nothing but HOPE.

TORO Mexican Japanese Restaurant

Did you know TORO means ‘Bull’ in Mexico and ‘Tuna Belly’ in Japan?

Filipinos are crazy about Mexican and Japanese food, which are among our comfort food next to Chinese cuisine. So, it’s nice to find unique restaurant concepts like TORO, which serves Mexican and Japanese cuisine (it is not a fusion restaurant).

The foodies I know, who were invited for a taste test before the restaurant opened, were raving about the food. It’s not surprising because Chef Sau del Rosario is the Chef Consultant for the resto.

We recently met here for our Mercato Centrale team meeting. Here is an account of our experience…

Chef Sau del Rosario, A Private Green Chef Experience

Chef Sau del Rosario, one of the most in-demand private chefs in Manila, is promoting sustainable and organic cuisine, not only in his restaurant Le Bistro Vert but also in every private dining experience encounter. There are only two chefs in Manila who are known as “green” chefs, namely Chef Tatung and Chef Sau.

Recently, Chef Sau partnered with Philips MyKitchen to promote healthy cooking at home using MyKitchen appliances. Coincidentally, it is also Mercato Centrale’s vision to have healthy and organic ingredients conveniently available every Saturday and Sunday morning @ Bonifacio Global City.

Chef Sau agreed to cook for the Mercato Centrale team one Saturday morning. 🙂 Here is a photo essay of our private green dining experience with Chef Sau…
