The Alpha in the land of Alpha

The Crispy Pata Confit

We heard that there is a “secret” restaurant  by the chef  behind Culliere in Serendra. The restaurant is in a commercial building called Alphaland, located at the corner of Pasong Tamo extension and EDSA.   Hidden on the 6th floor of Alphaland (southgate towers) is my latest discovery:  The Alpha by  Chef Katrina Khun Alcantara.

Alpha  has two specialties —  the Duck Confit and The Crispy Pata Confit. We chose the latter since we haven’t eaten a Crispy Pata Confit before. We would like to share with you our experience:

Will Team Philippines win The Amazing Race 4?

It was nice meeting Team Philippines who represented our country in The Amazing Race Asia 4 (TARA4) the show premiered last Sept. 23 on AXN)

Most Filipinos are cheering for The Richards – Richard Hardin and Richard Herrera.  In the first leg of the race with pit stop in Malaysia, they booked a 2nd place finish. They are obviously very  proud to  race under the  Philippines’ banner. Their chances of going all the way to victory is really high. Good luck Richards,  bring glory to the country!

The other members of Team Philippines are the party girls, Lani Pillinger and Jacinta “Jessie” James.  They were orginally from Australia but they decided to live and be based in the Philippines. These Aussies are one of us now and we wish them a good run as well.

However, after eating at Crystal Jade, could it be that there’s a new favorite Xiao Long Bao in town? So we went back to Suzhou and see how this old favorite really compare.

Last August 24, I crossed an age milestone. Technically, I am not “young” anymore. In most award giving events for the “youth”, age 35 is the cutoff to qualify. So we celebrated my last year of being “young” in what I believe to be the Best Mexican Restaurant in the Philippines – Maya Mexican Restaurant & Tequila Bar.

The BEST of Cebu City Series:

THE Crystal Jade La Mian Xiao Long Bao (Now – Crystal Jade Shanghai Delight)

Chinese chefs from Singapore preparing the dimsum for Crystal Jade La Mian Xiao Long Bao.

Finally, THE Crystal Jade that foodies are raving about in Hong Kong and Singapore is now in the Philippines! No, it’s not the old Crystal Jade in old Greenbelt; to distinguish itself, the restaurant’s name indicates its Shanghainese specialties — La Mian and Xiao Long Bao.
