I was virtually introduced to Jo Koy by Benji Reyes through Facebook. I’ve been watching Jo Koy’s stand-up comedy set online this holiday season. I can’t wait for his first comedy show in Manila on January 21! I would agree with Benji that he is better than Rex Navarrete.
But, just a warning, some of his jokes are For Adults Only. He talks about taboo things — like his son’s ting ting. For parents like us, we can relate. 🙂 Really funny! 🙂
He seems to be virtually unknown in Manila (based on an informal poll I did with Manila-based OAP readers). But most Filipinos in the US know him — even my brother in LA.
We brought home Real Leaf Green Tea as pasalubong for Aidan and Joshua. I was able to convince the two boys to do a photo shoot near the pool for this photo contest. If you have toddlers at home, you will know how difficult it is to convince little boys to do such a session. I’m glad the boys were game to do it. 🙂 I can’t wait to have another boy to complete the Three Kings!
Now, it is your turn to capture an awesome picture of a person drinking Real Leaf and get the chance to win an 8GB iPod Nano!
Merry Christmas to all OAP Friends and your Family! I would like to share with you a simple Christmas Gift from Aidan and his classmates. The next three videos were performed during Aidan’s Christmas performance in school. Enjoy!
RENT MUSICAL BACK in MANILA BLOG CONTEST NO. 2 Contest Duration: December 19, Saturday to 11.59pm December 27, Sunday)
I just watched the Sneak Peek of Rent Manila with the 2010 Cast. It was a very nostalgic moment for us, the“Rent” generation. I remembered how the songs truly inspired me — from pursuing the love of my life — Rache, to following my passion in life — blogging about the beauty of the Philippines. So for the next RENT Contest, can you share your own “La Vie Boheme” moment?
To enter the contest, you just have to create a Blog Post or a Facebook note and answer this: “What’s your ‘La Vie Boheme’ moment?” and mention the Feb 6, 2010 RENT OAP Show. Please enter the link of the Blog Post or Facebook note in the comments section of this entry.
The best entry will win: – Two (2) Balcony Tickets for the February 6, 2010, 8pm show! – A Black RENT Shirt for Women (XL Size) – Rent Manila 2010 Poster
(BTW, I recorded the Sneak Peek last Wednesday night. Check it out below!)
Happy Bacon is a personal favorite, and I’ve been addicted to it ever since Erica shared it when we met in Singapore. I encouraged her to join the Ultimate Taste Test to really put it to the test among foodies.
This is one of the highly debated foodie discoveries in UTT3 (see comments below). Fifty percent loved it because of the unique sweet-and-salty combination that is almost aphrodisiac in nature, while the other half hated it because it’s deadly, sinful and they didn’t like the aftertaste of bacon. But it passed the test with a rating of 3.4. This is a great Christmas gift for foodies who love new adventures with their chocolate.
The packaging can definitely be improved on and maybe Erica could create a version with the truffle-like quality of chocolate. Some think that its price of P250 for 100g is too high, but for us, the only problem is that the product has to be picked up in the QC / ABS-CBN area.
My favorite healthy drink these days is Jeren’s Flavored Kefir. The healthy benefits of Kefir are popular among the Chinese community. There is already one seller of Kefir drinks in Salcedo Market. I usually get my fix of Kefir in Arama in Serendra.
I had no doubt that the Flavored Kefir of Jeren would pass the discriminating taste of foodies. Some people even commented that it was so good in terms of sweetness and flavor that they couldn’t believe that it’s made purely of Kefir. I like the Mango and Vanilla variants (in that order). It’s like drinking ice cream — very milky rich, very tasty but still very healthy. How can you beat that?
Canapes Chef was a last-minute addition to the Ultimate Taste Test 3.0. In fact, they just called to ask if they could join one day before the event. We would usually say no since we have deadlines we have to honor, but for some reason, I let them join the event to share their Canapes with the foodies.
The Canapes were an instant hit with a 3.7 rating in UTT3. It was served at room temperature but it was still good — it is best served hot, though. You can keep them in the freezer and then just toast them in a regular toaster for 4-5 minutes for an instant yummy canape meal. 🙂 I like the classic Beef with Mushroom Canape.
These days, if you want Canapes, you have to go to either Bizu or Delifrance. But nothing beats homemade goodness and being able to taste the passion for food of Carrie and Leslie in every Canape bite.
One foodie commented, “Super Awesome! Better than Delimondo” — this was my sentiment exactly. We knew about Lattize restaurant and we wanted to try it, but I never got any feedback on how the food is until the Ultimate Taste Test 3.0. (BTW, have you eaten at Lattize in Mandaluyong?)
Most foodies raved about their Fresh Corned Beef. In the restaurant, the Fresh Corned Beef is priced at Php 420. It is served with potatoes, carrots & cabbage with a choice of steamed rice or mashed potato. You can order it for take-out this Christmas Season for Php 1,350.00 – Medium (good for 4-6 persons) or Php 2,250.00 – Large (good for 8-10 persons).
It was very good, but I would have to agree with most observations that it’s a bit salty and oily. I think it would be perfect with rice and egg. 🙂 If you are a fan of Delimondo’s Corned Beef, check out Lattize and compare the two.
This is one of the interesting foodie discoveries in the Ultimate Taste Test 3.0. 🙂
I would like to share with you a foodie discovery. I love this Dirty Ice Cream Burger for merienda that you can buy for only P15 from your Dirty Ice Cream Vendor. Sarap! I prefer the mix flavors of cheese, chocolate and mango ice cream as palaman for the monay bread.
A lot of people are already busy this week with the last minute Christmas rush for gifts or attending to last business meetings for the year. Some are celebrating Christmas parties with friends and others maybe preparing for the Simbang gabi.
Don't forget to have fun and to have a meaningful Christmas 🙂
