Machiavelli Chocolatier – The Hottest Eurasian Chocolates in Town

Machiavelli Chocolatier (P75 per piece – biggest size in rectangle)

The Chocolate Craze in Manila is heating up with the launch of Machiavelli Chocolatier Eurasian Fusion chocolates. The chocolates combine the best of European and Asian ingredients.

Machiavelli Chocolatier was founded by Raul D. Matias, a Filipino world-class chocolatier who left his physical therapy career to pursue his passion. It was named after Niccolo Machiavelli, who “was a philosopher, writer, and Italian politician and is considered one of the main founders of modern political science.” (Source: Wikipedia)

My cousin-in-law Pam, another Filipina chocolatier of Risa Chocolate Truffles fame, described it as ice cream wrapped in chocolate coating. Her favorites are the Ube, Yema, and Cashew Praline.

As for us, we are savoring our box of Machiavelli chocolates, which we bought before the Holy Week. We did not like the Guava Asia (Southeast Asian Guava Paste added to Dark Chocolate Ganache) and Ivorie Jack (Jack Fruit Puree, White Chocolate and coated with Dark Chocolate). I love the classic Grand Marnier with French cocoa powder, though. (I will update this post as we finish our box of mach-chocos.)

What’s your favorite Machiavelli Chocolate so far?

You can have it stylishly wrapped in these hard violet boxes, ranging from P35-P65, to give to your special someone. The box in the first photo is the free box.

Surprise your loved ones with these chocolates! Most Filipinas love chocolates. 🙂

  1. wasn’t it machiavelli who said “the ends justify the means.”? not a very inspiring name for me, hehe, sorry

  2. Oh, they’re finally open! I tried them last year, through a friend who knows the chocolatier. I liked the yema and leche flan flavors. I think it’s terrific that Filipino flavors are being used in chocolate, especially in a brand that’s sold abroad. If it’s lasted this long in NY, infamous for being snobbish and fickle about food, then maybe foreigners will eventually learn to appreciate Pinoy tastes. I’m really optimistic that our cuisine is finally beginning to make inroads globally. 🙂

  3. What a great gift idea. My wife & I love chocolates too. Who doesn’t?
It really looks yummy on your shots! Probably I’ll try to buy some for her soon.

  4. They are really so yummy! In fact, here in NY the Americans are crazy about the ube flavor, followed by langka, mango and buko pandan!

  5. That’s just awesome. I’m glad to see that Philippine chocolate is going upmarket. Hindi lang Goya and Serg’s. 🙂
But even though I’m thoroughly immersed in my love affair with fine European chocolates like Neuhaus, Teuscher, and La Maison du Chocolat, I still have (and always will have)a special place in my hear for Choc-Nut. 🙂

  6. Hi Anama, Thanks for the comment… I guess it is catered towards the US
market. I like the pinoy flavors like pastillas/ ube. Solid Royce fan ha…

  7. So happy this talented guy brought his creations back home. 🙂 They look amazing. Can’t wait to try it out, hopefully the unique flavors are to my liking.

  8. Bought 4 flavors today-grand marnier, thai caramel, purple yam and yema. The heavenly flavored ganache fillings inside just oooooze on the first bite! Thanks Mr. Matias for bringing back home your world class products!More power and looking forward to more exotic flavors!

  9. I’ve recently tried their chocolates..yes, it is indeed heavenly. I could have this daily! *wink wink* Though I must say that the lady in their counter was not accomodating and amiable. As soon as I got my order, I wanted to leave. I’m not sure I want to see the same person serving me again..Too bad.
