The Ateneans are starting to celebrate the 2007 THES Top 500 Universities Rankings where Ateneo is the only University that improved its ranking from 488 to 451 while University of the Philippines is ranked 398 this year (from 299). De La Salle is ranked 519 and UST is ranked 535 out of 566 Universities. Spanx started to provoke Gang Green and Lasallians in his post Hail! Hail! Hail! Just remember, the last time La Salle was out of anything, we came back and became champions. Animo La Salle!!

Never Shall We Fail
Rate this post:
Thank you to the De La Salle Green Archers for making us proud once again for winning the 2007 UAAP Basketball Championship! This 7th title is memorable because we swept the undefeated UE for two straight games in the finals. Even before the game started, most Lasalistas can already feel the championship. Even the players are confident the night before that they will win the Championship. The La Salle PEP squad also felt it and they enjoyed themselves before the game started. They even played the cheers of other schools during the mytical five awarding. I had fun cheering Goooo Uste and GO ATENEO! as the UST and Ateneo players received their awards. The La Salle Gallery, who occupied more than half of Araneta, was disciplined enough not to do the WAVE despite Randy Santiago's urge to respond to UE's WAVE. The WAVE should now be banned from our games.
For most of us, this is the best alma matter song we sang in our entire lives. Here is a final tribute:
De La Salle Alma Mater Hymn
We'll hold your banner high and bright,
We'll fight to keep your glory bright,

Congratulations to the La Salle Green
Archers for beating "The" Mighty Ateneo and winning the last finals slot
in the UAAP 2007 Season! It was great to be congratulated by Ateneans this morning :)
It was a great game and a definitive game that no one can contest if the Archers were just lucky. Despite the fact that Ateneo beat La Salle 3 times vs. 2 of La Salle, the Archers won both of the crucial games. The veterans played their best when it mattered most.
It does not matter if you watched in Araneta, in Restaurants, in Channel 23 or now online via ABS-CBN online, the entire La Salle community cheered and prayed for the Archers' victory.
Animo La Salle !! We will beat Dindo Pumaren's UE team in the finals...

When it matters most... Animo La Salle!
Rate this post:
As I clinched my fist and pumped it in the air as the entire La Salle gallery sang "Hail, Hail, Alma Matter," in unison, I can't help but shout "Go La Salle" as a second voice after each stanza of the song. Each word was shouted with pride and somehow we knew that when it matters most, the Green Archer delivered the 70-69 win over Ateneo. It never felt this good this UAAP season. Yes, like most die-hard Green Archer fan, I was in Araneta to support La Salle specially in the crucial last two minutes of the game and smell the sweet victory after the final buzzer.
Securing the second spot is crucial because La Salle gains the twice to beat advantage while Ateneo needs to beat UST to get a chance to play with La Salle again. Since UE swept the entire eliminations, they advance to the finals and a step ladder elimination is followed. I do hope Ateneo wins over UST so that we would have another Ateneo-La Salle game.
All of the big players delivered including JV Casio (21pts), Rico Maierhofer (13pts), Tyrone Tang (10pts), Peejay Barua (9pts)?, and Cholo Villanueva (7pts) who scored the winning point via a split free throw shot.

I love La Salle vs. Ateneo games! I've been watching it ever since college days, way back in 1991. I love the drama, the cheers, and the "kantiyawan" before and after the games. I love the sense of pride that comes with supporting your alma matter in good and bad times. I love watching it with fellow alumni and officemates who share the same pride and joy in watching these games.
For me, the game ended at 67-67 Overtime. It was a great Casio-time story that we will never forget. It hurts to admit that we lost 80-77 in Overtime because of Chris Tiu's 3 point shoot. I have to congratulate Norman Black and the Ateneo squad for their first win against La Salle under Norman Black as coach in 3 years. I can still feel the pain caused by text messages, SUSPENDED kantiyawans, and boastful voices of an Atenista. I hate it but Congratulations! Congratulations is also in order for the wonderful half time show by the Blue Babble Battalion and gang. ( I hate writing this post... Arghh...)
We watched together with my IDS team in P&G. Ethel was the only Atenista in our team vs. Joyce / Men and the rest of the La Salle gang. I admire Ethel for seating in the La Salle gallery and good thing, Ateneo won.
Remember, we lost the battle but not the war.... See you in the 2nd Round of La Salle vs. Ateneo.

Reminiscin' La Salle
Rate this post:
After 12 years, it was good to reminisce the formative days in college with a few alumni who can relate to our nostalgic sentiments. The towering Don Enrique T. Yuchengco Hall crushed our memories of the central gym where all the La Salle Basketball greats used to play.
This Green and White scene is energizing to see with the usual tambayan crowd and young casual dressed students passing by. I would like to share with you some of our nostalgic thoughts and please free to share your own as well in the comments.
What do you remember most about your La Salle college days?

The La Salle waiting shed. I remember this is where I get to taste my first love rejection ....
You would know the Alumni Generation you belong to by the number of buildings and halls you remember. I scored 10 out of 19. I'm really getting old!

Chapel of the Blessed Sacrament. One of the nice chapel inside the campus. I usually visit the PGP chapel near the library before going to class or after passing by the library.
The Aristocrat Restaraunt is now called Animo Food Haus and it was not the same anymore. The food is lousy but at least the entire place is airconditioned already.
I still remember the Japanese stall in the second floor and waffles are the favorite merienda of Lasallians.
This amphitheater is used as the venue for PEP Rallies, concerts and other school wide events.
Go La Salle! Go Go La Salle La Salle!! It is nice to hear the drum beats of the Lasalle PEP Squad inside the campus.
The feared and respected DLSU Basketball team during the PEP Rally.
The SPS Canteen is operated by the same folks and expect to see the usual canteen food stuff. The SPS canteen is a favorite canteen for the busy student leaders.
More cramped with these stalls around the dining area.
At 12 noon, you can still here the Angelus around the campus. Each prayer is ended with:
St. John Baptist De La Salle Pray for Us,
Live Jesus in Our Hearts, Forever.
You would see the occasional practices of the PEP Squad in what remained of the "Chess Plaza" as we would call it during our time.
I seldom visit La Salle. Only when there is a Job Fair which is scheduled on June and January where P&G is a Diamond sponsor.
Oh, the SJ Catwalk! This is where the aspiring models, celebrities, Lasallians would practice their walk on the runway. For us Engineering guys, we usually sit by the side walks or by our tambayan for hours just to watch the beautiful and sexy girls of La Salle.
Where are the hand painted posters, airbrushed murals or hand-written cartolina announcements? Creativity is lost and replaced by modern poster print outs.
If you still call it the College Canteen, then I know that you are part of our alumni generation. The name already evolved into CC, C2 or Z Cafe, whatever. We still call it College Canteen. This was usually the tambayan of the beautiful Liberal Arts girls and we were surprised that the beauty index have gone down a bit. Even the porma index is now reduced thanks to the resolution that allowed students to be in pambahay clothes and slippers.
I was looking for the spagketchup composed of spaghetti noodles and catsup as the sauce, but I cannot find it anymore. Where is the sense of history and tradition here?
The waffle is gone now and replaced by these popular sandwich and hotdogs bar. The College Canteen is not the same anymore as we remember it.
I now appreciate seeing the archer statue which will remain as a symbol of La Sallian Excellence.
After being on the sidelines for a year, let the UAAP games begin. Animo La Salle!!

Lasalle Ateneo Nightmare Games?!
Rate this post:
It was so painful to watch it that you got to wake up from the dream. The dream game that you don't want to remember and one of the worst Ateneo-LaSalle game that I've seen.
First the facts, the games ended in a split. In the legends game, Lasalle won 63 to 59 of Ateneo with Sta. Maria 15pts and Jong Uichico 14pts leading the Lasallian Legends. In the All stars, Ateneo won finally at 88 over La Salle's 85 led by Fonacier at 28pts, and Villanueva with 27 pts. including the game winning 3 points shot with 1s left in the game. You can say its good karma for Rico who was punched by Yeo earlier and shot the game winning 3 points.
Believe me these are the games that you don't want to watch:
1. After all the controversies that La Salle went through this year, this would top it all. There was a brawl between Yeo and Villanueva who elbowed Yeo on a rebound game. Yeo retaliated with a punch and he was thrown out of the game. There was a tension whether to continue the game and they decided to continue less the amateur college players to lessen the tension. There are a lot of talks on who is at fault here, but in the end La Salle loses in the argument anyway that you look at it. Yeo should have controlled himself and not let Ateneo have the final laugh here.
2. Its like watching the PBA games where the alma matter spirit is corrupted by entreprenuer's hoping to cash in on the rivalry. After the brawl, the game is practically a PBA Ateneo-Lasalle exhibition game. I guess that is why it was not sold out and the crowd was not charged enough to cheer throughout. Also, ABC 5's coverage was poor in video quality, delayed and lots of the same commercials (like watching Pacquiao's match). The all star games was disappointing, although it was great to see Ritualo, Cortez, Cardona, Limpot and Allado playing all at the same time. It would be delight to see JV and Yeo play along side Ritualo and Cortez... Likewise, on the Ateneo side, It was a delight to see the Champion Team Villanueva, Fonacier, Alvarez, Gonzales, and Tenorio reunited once again with the same fire and intensity.
3. I was bored watching the games which was practically a game of free throws. The second half was dominated by Ateneo but La Salle tied the ball game coming into the last 2 minutes. It was an exchange of free throws until the last 9 seconds where the game is tied with La Salle in possession of the ball. Ritualo was careless in receiving a pass while Villanueva ensured to sink the 3 point shots on the other end to make a statement. What happened to the excellent back court press and dazzling plays? We want Franz! Bring back Norman Black :)
Am I just dreaming that this happened? Wake me up!?! Aargh...

Awesome Green Archers Beating Ateneo 5-0 This Season!
Rate this post:

Beat Ateneo, Animo La Salle!!
Yes, 2005 is the year that Ateneo wouldn't want to remember. We beat them in the Legends Game, All Stars Game, two (2) UAAP Regular Games, and today's semi-finals with 74-57 (17 points)! I can't believe it that we swept all the games with Ateneo this year (I'm glad I watched all of them in Araneta except for the first UAAP regular game). Oh how sweet it is to savor the semi-finals win and to read the greenarcher.net victory threads, and the atenista.net's sour graping threads and thank you threads.
But, we Lasallians have a lot to thank you for our archrival Ateneo in today's game:
-- Thank you Ateneans for putting a great fight and you make our winning a lot sweeter!
-- Thank you to LA for really showing his true blue spirit and he is the only one who had the guts and spirit to fight the entire green archer squad. It is soooo sad that he would end his UAAP career with a cramps as Yeo shot a three points in his face.
-- Thank you to the blue eagles for achieving your first lead at half-time this season at 22-25 with 15 points contributed by LA. We were scared for that moment.
-- Thank you to the blue babble pep squad for a great half time show that is a lot better than ours (in my opinion) except for the errors the band made.
-- Thank you to the Ateneo Crowd and Gordon for cheering your hearts out despite the odds. I know how it feels to lose and it is OK to cry. I also felt this once, when Ateneo beat La Salle two years ago during the championship.
To The LASALLE GREEN ARCHERS:
-- You make us all proud in showing Ateneo that they can NEVER EVER beat us!
-- Thank you to Franz, for showing his coaching mentor, Norman Black that this is not the PBA and La Salle-Ateneo games are games about basketball spirit and alma matter pride.
-- Thank you to king archer, Joseph Yeo, for showing us how great you really are in slashing, and attacking the ring for a magical basket. We would never ever forget the allehoop you assisted to Rico for a reverse dunk. You can never imagine the joy that you bring to the entire LaSalle Gallery with that play.
-- Thank you to the La Salle Pep Squad for a funny half time show. Ateneans will never forget the Ryan Jig moves you did in front of the Ateneo gallery.
-- To the players, thank you for all the great plays and for showing composure in the 2nd half. We know that the lead in the 1st half of Ateneo will be their last -- we never doubted for a second.
-- Can you give us the photo "shot" taken by Aquino at the half court in the dying minutes? Thanks for having fun and for sure Ateneans will loathe it forever.
ANIMO LASALLE!! We will have one year to savor a 5-0 beating of our archrival, ateneo!

Top 10 Things Why I Love the UAAP & The La Salle Green Archers !
Rate this post:
I love the virgin spirit of trying to win for our alma matter no mater what it takes.
I love it when Lasalle beats the Ateneo Pride and crush them during the last three minutes.
I love the excitement every time Arana scores beneath the goal with Japeth Aguilar defending.
I love the comedy of the Lasalle Pep squad that Ateneans cannot comprehend.
I love making the wave and seeing Ateneans with envy that they want do it too.
I love it when T.Y. Tang is not anymore afraid of Tenorio and it looks like the other way around now.
I love it that even with the height disadvantage, Lasalle would make Ateneo look small.
I love it when Franz Pumaren would make Norman Black an amateur in college basketball.
I love the play of the day when Arana started dancing to the tune of Go Lasalle Go Go Lasalle.
I love it when Ateneo Blue Babble makes an L sign during halftime which stands for LOSERS :)
Congratulations to the Lasalle Basketball team for beating Ateneo (again) 72-55 in yesterday's Ateneo - Lasalle 2nd round game and winning all the Ateneo-Lasalle games this year! Whether it is the Legends game, All-Star game, or the double round robin games, you guys make us so proud :) ANIMO LASALLE!!

La Salle humbles Ateneo's Basketball Legends and All Stars!
Rate this post:
I don't want to brag about La Salle's domination of the Ultimate Showdown this afternoon between the Legends and All Star selections of the Ateneo-La Salle basketball rivalry. I want to share my happiness with all the green ones out there and the fanatics of the Ateneo-La Salle basketball games. The DLSU Legends defeated Ateneo by 79-70, while the La Salle All Stars also defeated Ateneo by 83-72. My Upper A ticket which costs me P315 was really worth it and I can't describe how this win truly made my day. On top of it, you earn some bragging rights until the official UAAP DLSU-ADMU match-up on July 10.
Aside from winning the games, there are a few things that we should be happy about:
1. We beat the Ateneo Blue Babble with the innovative La Salle Pep Squad moves. I've been always impressed on how Ateneo comes up with great ideas and shows during half time, but clearly this year's groups is not innovative -- we beat them to it. I particularly like the Dance/Cheer song that the girls performed at the start of the Legends game when the La Salle team was introduced-- It was tastefully sexy :) Also, cheer of the Alumni during the start of the All Star games was hilarious and cute with the additional of one lady among 5 alumni boys. I'll research on who these people are or probably watch the replay of the games.
2. It's been an honor to watch the King Archers/ King Eagles played in the present generation. I was overwhelmed that I still get a chance to see Lim Eng Beng shot the first 3 points of the Legends game when both teams are struggling to score or see Danny Francisco made a follow up shot to cut down the 20pts lead in the 3rd quarter to only four (4) points. I cannot express the happiness seeing two great coaches, Franz Pumaren and Jong Yuichico playing side-by-side---- how Franz sinks in a couple of 3 points shot or how Jong would always drive to the hoop and scores. I now have more respect for Tonichi Yturri for getting the most number of points during the legends game despite that he is now playing badminton. These are the people who made and kept the rivalry alive for the years to come.
3. The secret to Lasalle's Basketball success is great point guards, excellent coach and deep bench. I now know why the Pumarens are the best thing that ever happened in La Salle Basketball history. They were able to show how to execute great plays, demonstrate leadership inside the court, and coach the people with game winning strategies (platoon substitutions, pushing the right buttons, etc.) Its great to see the point guards -- Franz and Dindo Pumaren, Dino Aldeguer, Trillo, etc. playing side by side and show that they have not lost their touch.
This list could go on and on. Some notable moments during the ultimate showdown:
- Ren Ren Ritually and Tonichi Yturri beat Jojo Lastimosa and partner in the All star shoot out.
- Dinglasan is one of the "character person" in the DLSU All star bench -- the audience loved him.
- First time that I heard the Ateneo Alma Matter sang soo sadly. In the past, even if they lose the game, it would still be sang with a lot of gusto and pride.
Till July 10, for the next ADMU-DLSU game during the opening of the UAAP season!
