DUSIT THANI: Sunday Family Crossover Brunch Buffet (Umu and Basix)

Dusit Thani recently launched the Sunday Family Brunch Buffet, which is a streamlined and improved version of their famous Crossover Buffet across all the four restaurants in the hotel (Benjarong, Umu, Tosca and Basix).

The Sunday Brunch Buffet still features the same international cuisines: Japanese, Italian, Thai, and Continental, but it's a crossover between the first floor restaurants Umu and Basix so that people don't have to go up and down.

The Thai food of Benjarong is featured in Umu, and the Italian selections of Tosca are featured in Basix. Also, they added more emphasis on Filipino cuisine in Basix by including Lechon and Fresh Lumpia. This time, breakfast fare is added to the Basix spread to truly make it a brunch affair.

More focus has also been placed on kids' entertainment and family fun, hence the name Family Brunch.

Some foodies debate that the old format is better, but some like the streamlined crossover approach.

SPIRAL recently upgraded and launched their Ultimate Sunday Champagne Brunch. The Sunday Brunch incorporates the best of the Spiral Buffet (like the Cheese Room) with drink-all-you-can Champagne and Mojitos served at your table, along with foodie favorites like Caviar, Foie Gras, and Roast Beef of Lamb. They also added fun elements for the kids to entertain themselves throughout the brunch.

Raffles & Fairmont's SPECTRUM recently launched The Luxe Sunday Brunch to heat up The Battle for the BEST Sunday Brunch in Manila.

It's a carefully curated buffet with an interesting mix of Breakfast offerings, a Sunday BBQ Grill, Live Foie Gras station and unlimited Champagne, Singapore Sling and wine. The usual Spectrum buffet with an assorted Honey Buffet is expanded with more salad and starter options, more meat options, and more homemade desserts. :)

IMPRESSIONS by Maxim Hotel has an interesting Sunday Brunch buffet strategy -- they only have 3 stations (hot, cold, and dessert) that serve limited but high quality food using only the finest ingredients in the buffet.

SPIRAL BUFFET: Guide to Asia's Most Dynamic Interactive Dining @ Sofitel Manila!

After 13 months of re-conceptualization and an extensive USD 11 million investment, SOFITEL's flagship restaurant SPIRAL is back to provide the Most Dynamic Interactive-Dining Experience in Asia, and the Ultimate-Buffet Experience in Manila. 

SPIRAL's goal is "to bring the authenticity and warmth of the traditional French markets and Asian hawker stalls into a five-star hotel setting". It recreated 21 Ateliers (workshop for artisans) where secret recipes are masterfully prepared right before your very eyes.

I was pleasantly surprised that Marriot Cafe offered a Sunday Brunch Buffet with a cross-over to Cru - one of the best Steakhouses in Manila.

It only costs P2,000 per head which is easily the cost of ordering one steak at Cru. You don't only get unlimited steaks and foie gras, you'll also get a wide array of other Meat and Fresh Seafood options, and different Asian Cuisines plus end your meal with the Chocolate Dessert Room.

Best Buffets in Manila: Li Li's Yum Cha Sunday Dimsum Buffet

Li Li Dimsum Buffet (P1,342 net) in Hyatt is one of the best Cantonese dimsum buffets in Manila. It’s just like the ones you can enjoy in Hong Kong. The restaurant is named after Li Li, a famous member of the Hongkong elite. Two of the private rooms are named after her daughters Fei Fei and Bai Ling. The menu is created by five highly skilled master chefs from Hong Kong to ensure the culinary quality and authenticity that Hyatt is known for.

The Family Crossover Brunch Buffet is the best buffet deal in town every Sunday. You get to try the best Thai, Japanese and Italian cuisine in Makati for P1,450 net from Dusit Thani’s specialty restaurants – Benjarong, Umu, and Tosca, respectively. The continental buffet in Basix restaurant is also included but it takes a supporting role, providing the Peking duck, prime ribs, shawarma and other common dishes one would expect in a hotel buffet.
