LUMAGO DESIGNS: Literally, From Trash To Beautiful Jewelry!

lumago

Lumago Designs is a sustainable, eco-friendly, social enterprise, that is dedicated to improving the livelihood of women from Candau-ay, a large Barangay located on the outskirts of Dumaguete City and home to a large scavenger community.

Lumago Designs blossomed out of the Dumaguete City dumpsite shortly after Typhoon Sendong had devastated the community in 2011. Today, Lumago employs mothers from the Candau-ay community and trains them in the design and manufacturing of beautifully handcrafted jewelry that is locally-sourced with repurposed materials from the dumpsite.

The pieces are artfully handcrafted by the women, and express the bold and colorful personalities of Negros Island. Combining their island roots with contemporary style, the accessories convey a fashion-forward feel, while simultaneously transporting you to a sun-drenched strand of sandy bliss, wherever you may be in the world!

OKTOBERFEST MANILA: German Club Oktoberfest @SofitelManila vs October Beer Festival @CityofDreamsPH

OF`0

If there's one thing you should get pumped up for in October, it's Oktoberfest!

Oktoberfest is a traditional German festival that celebrates everyone's favorite things--food, beer, singing, and dancing! It isn't just a traditional beer fair, it's actually one of the best celebrations of them all.

The official celebration takes place in Munich, Bavaria, but so many other places try to copy this awesome festival, including Manila, Philippines! However, no matter where you celebrate, there are always a few things you can expect: mouthwatering food, lively people and music, and huge amounts of beer.

This year, Oktoberfest came to two of the best hotels in the city. Sofitel held its 79th German Club Oktoberfest on Oct 7 and City of Dreams, Manila hosted their own version of the festival on Oct 12. Both were grand, fun, and with lots of merrymaking!

Here's a photo essay of Oktoberfest in Manila...

CULINAIRE: Around the World with Flavors from SMX's Top Caterers! (Photo Essay)

SMX21 copy

Culinaire is one of SMX's biggest events of the year--a celebration of all their top accredited caterers and partners!

This year's theme--A Flight of Flavors--was different and a bit more fun. SMX designated one country each for their 14 caterers to showcase their respective food. For one night, guests had a chance to travel to different nations and gain access to some good food. These countries include Japan, Spain, Korea, Thailand, Philippines, Italy, Brazil, Germany, Turkey, India, France, USA, China, and Mexico.

The event was held last October 3 at the SMX Convention Center, Manila and was also a joint celebration of SMX Manila's 10th Anniversary, Megatrade Halls's 25th Anniversary, SMX Davao's 5th Anniversary, and the Sky Hall's 1st Anniversary.

Here's a photo essay of what happened at Culinaire...
