LE MONET: Your Home in Camp John Hay, Baguio! (Revisited) @lemonet_hotel

By Abigail Javellana

Le Monet Baguio
Le Monet Hotel is located in the Baguio City, also known as the "Summer Capital of Philippines". The establishment is named after Claude Monet, the great French impressionist painter known for his beautiful landscape paintings. Managed by Artstream Hospitality Management Group, Inc. with 70 well-appointed rooms, you'll find Le Monet Hotel inside the famous Camp John Hay.

We loved the combination of the hotel's beautiful landscapes, the scent of pine, and the sweeping views that provide guests with a cozy atmosphere.

Here's our experience...

Le Monet Baguio

Our favorite spot is the Al Fresco dining at the veranda with a great and refreshing view.

Le Monet Baguio

A seat by the window with the same scenic view is also nice.

Eggs Benedict with poached eggs, bacon, asparagus, and hollandaise sauce. This was a treat!

Dining Menu at Le Monet

Le Monet Baguio

One of the hotel's restaurants and bars, The Lobby, is an all-day dining establishment. The Lobby has a whole different menu with traditional Filipino, French, and other international cuisine by the Executive Chef, Robby Goco, and his team.

The lobby is adorned with crystal cascading chandeliers and works of art from famed Filipino artists.

Le Monet Baguio

Le Monet Salad (P320). Fresh lettuce, candied walnuts, strawberry, parmesan cheese, and balsamic vinegar dressing.

Our favorite. Their bestseller for good reason.

Le Monet Baguio
French Shrimp Cocktail and Watermelon Salad (P350)

Poached shrimp, watermelon, alfalfa, and thin crispy bread with fresh mint leaves dressing with chili, honey, extra virgin oil.

baguio

Linguine Vigan Pasta (Solo: P150 | Sharing: P295). Linguini Pasta topped with cherry tomatoes, sunny side up egg, and crispy sauteed longganisa.

Le Monet Hotel's Vigan Longganisa Pasta by Chef Robby Goco. Love the garlicky and salty taste!

Le Monet Baguio
Shrimp Cocktail (P350). Shrimp poached in white wine, parsley, and lemon juice.

We like the horseradish sauce, mango sauce, and cream cheese dip.

Le Monet Baguio

US Short Rib Kaldereta by Chef Robby Goco (P360)

Tender US short rib with vegetables, tomato sauce, and cream cheese on top.

Le Monet Baguio

The Filipino salad comes as a complimentary treat with any Filipino traditional dish.

Made from sayote tops, camote tops, salted red egg, tomato, and bagoong vinaigrette. This was just OK though.

Le Monet Baguio

Fresh Fruit Platter (P250)

A mix of strawberries, watermelon, honeydew, melon, and oranges.

Le Monet Facilities

Le Monet Baguio

The hotel includes a panoramic view of the pine trees and a pocket garden.

Le Monet Baguio

There's also a small heated indoor pool...

Le Monet Baguio

...and a gym.

Activities Inside Camp John Hay

Le Monet Baguio

Nothing beats some Strawberry Taho in the morning! You can get this delicious treat via the horseback trail beside the hotel for P25.

Taho, a popular soy-based street food, gets the Baguio treatment by replacing the syrup with strawberry reduction. The best ones I tried even include bits of strawberry in the mix. A must when in Baguio.

Le Monet Baguio
Camp John Hay's other tourist spots such as the butterfly sanctuary, eco-trail, horseback riding trails, and picnic areas are easily accessible.

Le Monet Baguio

Horseback riding.

Baguio: Melt

The camp also has a lot of restaurants inside if you wish to eat someplace besides the hotel...

Le Monet Baguio

...and the Mile Hi Center for all your shopping needs.

Baguio

One of the best parts I love about staying in Camp John Hay is that you can safely jog around the area.

Le Monet Baguio

Overall, we liked our stay at Le Monet not only for their rooms with a scenic view but also for its location. And of course, who wouldn't want to enjoy and get a taste of the "Best Breakfast Buffet" in Baguio?
