The Picturesque Location

Untitled

Puerto Galera’s breathtaking view should be reason enough to go to Malasimbo. Over the years, the festival’s attendance has swelled well over 6,000 people from more than 30 different countries.

The Unique Festival Grounds

Malasimbo Amphitheater

The festival grounds are home to the famous grass-terraced amphitheater, whose acoustics are made nonpareil by the mountain’s unique landscapes.

The Malasimboat Party

Grab yourself some hotdogs and burgers and chill out to 4 hours of great music as you party into the sunset.

You can even try out the waterslide if you want to take a dip in style.

The Vivid Visual Arts

Over the years, more than 50 visual artists have showcased their works at the stunning festival grounds. For their 6th anniversary, Malasimbo will feature close to 30 unique installations by the country’s top visual artists. You can expect the works of Leeroy New, Agnes Arellano, Olivia D’Aboville-Grgic, and more as part of the roster.

Here are a few pieces you can feast your eyes on:

Wawi Navarroza and Ling Ramilo Installation

(Sa Langit Mong Bughaw/To Your Skies of Blue by Wawi Navarroza and Ling Ramilo Installation)

This installation is a mosaic tapestry that floats along the breeze. As an update to the previous installation, which was orange, the artists intend on making it blue this year.

Installation Diagram Iya Regalario _ Gringo Benedicto

(Utopian Visions by Iya Regalario and Gringo Benedicto)

This installation is artist’s rendition of a “heavenly realm”, made with a tree stump, resin, paints, gelatins, and glow in the dark liquids to “transport the audience to their own dreamy intergalactic travels.”

The Advocacies

Untitled

Other than music and arts, Malasimbo also centers on promoting the indigenous Mangyan tribe and their culture, preserving the tamaraw and planting trees and mangroves.

At the festival, the Mangyan will be selling beautiful handicrafts. Funds gathered will help in the conservation of the Ambahan and Surat Mangyan, while providing educational incentives for the youth.

The proceeds will also help supply solar power to the Iraya Mangyan village of Baclayan, so don't forget to buy your souvenirs!

(Note: You can also go on an Eco-Safari with the help of the D'Aboville Foundation and Noe Conservation to help protect the Tamaraw, a water buffalo found only in Puerto Galera.)

Malasimbo Audience

Don’t miss out on these two fun-filled weekends of great music and beautiful art for a cause!
