A Paparazzi Anniversary (A Photo Essay) @EdsaShangriLa

EDSA Shangrila Staycation-106.jpg

PAPARAZZI is Edsa Shangri-La's signature Italian Restaurant serving an iconic Bistecca Florentina with 1.2kg of Tuscany T-bone Steak from young grass-fed cows from Ireland.

We celebrated our anniversary at Paparazzi with our boys during our Edsa Shangri-La Staycation. Here's what to expect at Paparazzi...

I like the layout of Paparazzi with big breathing spaces in between tables and corner tables for added privacy.

Italian Chef Marco Ghezzi showcased the famous personalities taken by Paparazzi--independent guerilla photographers of celebrities.

Still or Sparkling? I always go for S. Pellegrino sparkling water for its bubbly refreshing effect.

EDSA Shangrila Staycation-77.jpg
Finest Italian Extra virgin olive oil mixed with balsamic vinegar is served for the bread course.

EDSA Shangrila Staycation-80.jpg
I like the focaccia bread. I usually order extra parmesan cheese to go with the dip.

EDSA Shangrila Staycation-82.jpg
★ Antinori, Guado al Tasso (P690/glass, P3,200/bottle +10% service charge). Il Bruciato, Bolgheri | Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah. Blackberry, cherry, and raspberry fruit, accented by hints of cedar, sandalwood, and licorice. Ripe and fleshy with moderate tannins.

I love this red wine with fruity flavors and moderate tannins that go well with the meats.

EDSA Shangrila Staycation-85.jpg
★ Burrata di Alta Mura (P700+10% service charge). Burrata served with cherry tomato and fresh basil.

The small bits of fresh burrata are served with tomatoes and fresh basil. The cheese itself is creamy but bland. We love the pesto!

EDSA Shangrila Staycation-87.jpg
Vitello Tonnato (P620 +10% service charge). Thinly sliced veal in tuna sauce with Pantelleria capers.

The thin slice of veal meat was just right but the tuna sauce was a bit salty.

EDSA Shangrila Staycation-90.jpg
Caclucco (P520 +10% service charge). Classic livornese seafood soup.

A classic seafood soup made of different seafood meat from Livorno in Tuscany. It's a bit salty as well.

EDSA Shangrila Staycation-94.jpg
★  Zuppa di Funghi con Tartufo (P520 +10% service charge). Mushroom cream soup with truffle.

We love the fresh tasting mushroom flavor of the soup made from button and shiitake mushrooms, topped with just enough cream and truffle.

EDSA Shangrila Staycation-96.jpg
Linguine alle Vongole (P690 +10% service charge). Linguine with clams in olive oil, garlic, and spicy chili flakes.

Fresh linguine pasta with simple flavors of clams, garlic, and a bit of chili.

EDSA Shangrila Staycation-99.jpg
We ordered the Italian-style pizza for the boys.

EDSA Shangrila Staycation-100.jpg
★ Bufala (P600 +10% service charge). Tomato sauce, buffalo mozzarella, cherry tomato, fresh basil, and oregano.

It's a thin crust pizza with a saucy center. It is best to fold one on top of another to enjoy it.

EDSA Shangrila Staycation-105.jpg
Jenny served the Florentina steak sliced on an iron plate with three kinds of sauces: pepper, mushroom, and truffle.

EDSA Shangrila Staycation-103.jpg
It's awesome that you get to choose your big serving steak knife and your own personal steak knife.

EDSA Shangrila Staycation-108.jpg
★ Florentina (P4,500 +10% service charge). Tuscany T-Bone steak grilled (1,200g)

The steak meat is tasty by itself and has a good beefy taste as you chew it, with no need for the sauce.

EDSA Shangrila Staycation-120.jpg
This big steak knife looks sexy when you use it to cut the steak. :)

EDSA Shangrila Staycation-113.jpg
★ Ossobuco (P1,990 +10% service charge). Braised veal shank served with risotto saffron Milanese style.

The Ossobuco meat was so tender and tasty with our favorite saffron risotto!

Happy 12th Wedding Anniversary to my beautiful wife--Mrs. Awesome Planet!

EDSA Shangrila Staycation-133.jpg
★ Tiramisu (P425 +10% service charge). A Traditional dessert from Veneto.

This was authentically good like the ones we enjoyed in Veneto.

EDSA Shangrila Staycation-135.jpg
Panna Cotta (P400 +10% service charge). Italian panna cotta with vanilla.

The panna cotta has a bready texture instead of a smooth flan consistency.

EDSA Shangrila Staycation-69.jpg

We were pleasantly surprised how good and faithfully authentic the food was at Paparazzi. I would recommend the following four-course menu:

Anti Pasti: Burrata di Alta Mura Zuppa di Funghi con Tartufo
First Course: Fresh Pasta / Italian-style Pizza

Second Course: Florentina / Ossobuco

Dessert: Tiramisu

The dishes are served family style so to get the best value, enjoy it with the family or a few friends.

Budget about P1,500 to P2,000/head.

Congrats to Chef Marco Ghezzi for our awesome anniversary dinner at Paparazzi!

P.S. They are planning to renovate Paparazzi soon with more casual interiors instead of a stiff fine dining ambiance. That's awesome! :)
