AOZORA: A Secret Japanese Resto Hideaway in Tagaytay! @ Domicillo Tagaytay

Aozora LG G4-8

AOZORA is the first Japanese Restaurant in Tagaytay by Chef Seiji Kamijo Kamura, located on the roofdeck of Domicillo in Tagaytay. The name means "Blue Sky", which pertains to the heavenly dining experience with yummy Japanese food, and the best panoramic view under the blue sky of the city.

This is one secret dining spot in Tagaytay for foodies looking for the best match of an awesome view of the Lake Taal with gourmet Japanese food, a good selection of Japanese drinks, and a small crowd.

We celebrated Father's Day at Aozora and here are our recommendations...

AOZORA MENU: Chef RecommendationSoup, Fried, Salad, Noodles, Sashimi, Sushi | Maki, Grilled, Donburi, Rice Meals, Dessert | Drinks

The restaurant has an industrial Japanese look. You can also decide to hang out in the al fresco (but smoking) section.

The complimentary wakame seaweed salad in sesame sauce was so good that we had to order additional servings even for our kids.

Aozora-14.jpg
Miso Tofu Soup (P85) and Mixed Mushroom (P95)

The soups are clean but very tasty. I loved sipping on the mixed mushroom soup while enjoying the cool weather of Tagaytay.

Aozora-6.jpg
✮ Aozora Salad (P320)

The Aozora Salad is a Japanese kani salad, made yummier with crunchy bits of kani, and topped with mayo and fish roe.

Aozora LG G4-14
✮ Tuna Avocado Salad (P290)

I like this Japanese salad with chunks of big eye tuna and fresh avocado, mixed with mayo and tobiko.

Aozora-16.jpg
Aozora Ice Tea (P120)

Their ice tea combination was a bit weird. Best to stick with the hot tea throughout the meal.

Aozora-18.jpg
Chef Seiji is usually at the restaurant every Thursdays and Fridays, but you are still in good hands with Glimar and Renz, who were in charge of the kitchen when we visited.

Aozora LG G4-6
✮ Mixed Sashimi (P500)

The mixed sashimi is composed of 4 pieces of 5 different kinds of fresh sashimi--Salmon, Tuna, Egg, Kani, and Uni. Great value at P500 only.

Aozora LG G4-3
✮ Dragon Maki (P350)

Their signature dragon roll is filled with kani tempura topped with mayo, tobiko, and seaweed. Not only is it photogenic--it's as yummy as it looks.

Aozora LG G4-10
Salmon Aburi Nigiri Sushi (P130). Roasted Salmon Belly Sushi.

The fatty portion of the salmon belly is roasted just right for that satisfying sushi bite.

Aozora LG G4-13
California Maki (P245)

Any Japanese restaurant worth its salt should have good California Maki. Aozora passes the California Maki test. :)

Aozora LG G4-16
✮ Spicy Salmon Maki (P295)

The maki is not only stuffed with spicy salmon but also topped with it as many as it can hold.

Aozora LG G4-9
Ebi Tempura (P395 - 5 pcs.)

The tempura was good and Aidan's all-time favorite.

Aozora-21.jpg
✮ Aozora Ramen (P295). Bulalo soup base.

The Aozora Ramen was surprisingly awesome with a clean-tasting bulalo soup and ramen noodles that absorb the flavour of the broth. The beef meat and tendon were also super tender.

Aozora-22.jpg
It was served in a claypot and with fire underneath to ensure that it stays hot while you eat it.

Aozora LG G4-11
✮ Wagyu Yakiniku Beef (P795)

Order the Wagyu Yakiniku for a satisfying main course, with good tender meat, fresh mushrooms, and sweet roasted vegetables on the side.

Aozora-24.jpg
Aozora Fried Rice (P180) and ✮ Katsu Curry (P280)

Aozora fried rice is just seafood rice--like an ordinary fried rice with seafood bits. Best to order the rice with dry curry if you want to try something new or unique.

Aozora-40.jpg
Chicken Yakitori (P390)

The sweet chicken yakitori is always a good, safe option for the kids to be paired with plain Japanese rice.

Aozora LG G4-18
✮ Mango Tempura Ice Cream (P180)

All their desserts are currently Mango-based. Try their mango fried tempura-style topped with vanilla ice cream and chocolate sauce.

Aozora-55.jpg
We only shared on--it tastes better when you fight over it. :)

Aozora-42.jpg
Don't order this Japanese sticky rice wrapped with seaweed.

Aozora LG G4-17
Mango Sorbet (P120) is icy bits of mango, which is a good palate cleanser.

The foodies, the senior citizens, and the boys all enjoyed the Japanese food and everything was wiped out. The choices on the menu were done really well. They use imported Japanese ingredients and good local ingredients to provide the best Japanese food experience.

I recommend starting with their salads--either the Aozora Salad or Tuna Avocado Salad. Order the Dragon Maki, Spicy Salmon Maki, or the Mixed Sushi. For your main dish, don't forget to order the Bulalo Ramen and the Wagyu Yakiniku with Katsu Curry rice. For dessert, end with the Mango Tempura Ice Cream.

Budget about P700/head. It's best to order their signature creations and not the usual Japanese dishes.

I like the al fresco roof desk ambiance, which is beside the veranda with a panoramic view of Taal Volcano. It's a great place to eat healthy in a relaxed atmosphere.

Try it on your next food trip to Tagaytay.
