WILD FLOUR Cafe + Bakery by Chef Walter Manzke in Makati! (A Review) @WildFlourManila

Wildflour Makati-6.jpg
WILD FLOUR MAKATI is the Makati expansion of the popular bakery and cafe by Chef Walter Manzke, located along the Leviste food street in Makati. It's bigger, with improved interiors, and a better, off-mall Salcedo neighborhood location.

I love how they executed their concept, comfort food line-up, and chill ambiance, which makes it a great place to hang out with your foodie friends. Here's our Wild Flour Makati experience...

Wild Flour menu: Appetizers, Pasta, Main Courses | Dessert and Drinks | cheese, bottled beers, local craft beers | white and red wines

There are more new items on the menu, and there's a bit of a difference with the BGC flagship branch. For example, the tarte flambes are not included in the Makati branch's menu.

One of the best complimentary baguettes in Manila--crusty on the outside, soft and chewy on the inside. Best with butter and remember to eat it while hot.

Guava-Lime Soda (P160 +10% service charge)

They have good, homemade sodas like the guava with lime combination above, which they create in their spin-off dessert bar called Farmacy.

Wildflour Makati-16.jpg
Carrot & Ginger (P320 +10% service charge). Fresh carrot juice, cocchi Americano, Grand Marnier, cointreau, lemon.

For me, I sometimes like healthy and alcoholic to start off my meal. :)

Wildflour Makati-14.jpg
Octopus Salad (P390 +10% service charge). Shaved cabbage, mango, peanuts, basil, and cilantro.

This octopus salad is simple but executed well, with fresh vegetables, a bit of mango, and yummy light dressing.

Wildflour Makati-18.jpg
Crispy Pig's Head (P330 +10% service charge). Red wine braised lentils, bacon, arugula.

It's like sisig but fried like tonkatsu patty, topped with egg and lots of lentils, some bacon, and arugula. A good appetizer if you're looking for something unique.

Fried Chicken (P690 +10% service charge)Sausage gravy, biscuits.

The fried chicken was good--not too oily with the right crisp. But the biscuits with honey were the most raved about and overshadowed the chicken.

I also like that the presentation of the dishes is well-executed--simple but still photogenic.

Wildflour Makati-26.jpg
Pumpkin Agnolotti (P360 +10% service charge)Parmesan, brown butter, wild arugula.

An all-time favorite at Wild Flour--pumpkin stuffed pasta with brown butter and arugula to break the creaminess. The pasta pops when you bite it, and the pumpkin oozes out like in a Xiao Long Bao.

Wildflour Makati-21.jpg
Spaghetti Prawns (P450 +10% service charge). Calamari, clams, garlic, lemon.

Another good execution of seafood pasta, with a generous serving of prawns and a light creamy sauce.

Wildflour Makati-28.jpg
The serving size is big enough to be shared with 2-4 people, especially if you're trying out other dishes.

Wildflour Makati-24.jpg
✮ Kimchi Fried Rice (P495 +10% service charge). Braised beef brisket, fried egg

Another favorite is the kimchi spiced flavored fried rice with sesame seeds. The Wild Flour BGC version is better though, with big chunks of steak instead of braised beef brisket, mixed into the rice.

Wildflour Makati-36.jpg
✮ Carrot Cake (P210 +10% service charge). Cream cheese frosting.

We ended our meal with a big slice of their classic carrot cake with sweet cream cheese frosting.

Thanks for the awesome company! Until our next food trip. :)

I think this is the Best Wild Flour branch with better chill interiors and a spacious layout, with an open bakery kitchen that entices your senses. Sitting outside is cool, especially during this Christmas season.

I'm impressed that everything we ordered was good--from appetizers, drinks, main dishes, and most importantly, desserts. I recommend the Octopus Salad, Pumpkin Agnolotti, Kimchi Fried Rice, and the Carrot Cake. Budget about P1,000/head including drinks.

Congratulations to Wild Flour for another restaurant hit in Makati in 2014!
