GINO’s BRICK OVEN PIZZA is a Neapolitan-style Pizzeria originally from Katipunan, by passionate Filipino food entreprenuers Jutes & Cello Templo (of Cello’s Donuts fame). The name of the resto is a tribute to their son, Gino.

The Makati branch is the Gino’s 2.0 version. The taste is so authentic, some people think it’s owned by Italians.

We loved their Burratta, homemade pasta, and Neapolitan pizza! Check out Gino’s…

The ambiance is very kid-friendly. 🙂

The menu is simple and each dish is handcrafted by the owners. 🙂

✮ House Salad with Burrata (P375). Mixed Greens with Balsamic Dressing.

The Burrata is so good because they make it themselves, with mozzarella skin, cream, and kesong puti from the Philippine Carabao Institute in Los Baños.

It has a creamy but light cheese taste and goes well with the salad, or even the Bolognese, as some foodies recommend.

✮ Salted Egg Pasta (P180). Fettucine, Bacon, Salted Egg, Cream, Parmesan.

Love the homemade taste of the fettucine — chewy and cooked al dente. The bacon-salted egg combination is very addicting! 🙂

✮ Tomato Basil Pasta (P190). Spaghetti, Tomato, Basil, Garlic, Parmesan.

Even this simple pasta is good, with thick and chewy homemade spaghetti noodles and just the right tomato taste (not too sweet, not too maasim).

✮ SMEGG (P370). Homemade sausage, Mushroom, Eggs, Gouda, Cream.

The pizzas are really good, too — soft with just the right crisp, and cooked quickly in a brick oven.

Best to eat each slice by folding it. This SMEGG version has generous bits of mushroom, sausage, and runny egg all over it — sarap!

You’ve got to try their own spicy honey if you like s spicy-sweet kick to your pizzas. 🙂

✮ Fresh Dalandan (pitcher – P170)

All their juices are fresh. We love the Dalandan in particular!

TIP: You can bring your own wine and the first bottle is free of corkage. 🙂

Congratulations to Jutes Templo for a winning resto concept in the competitive Makati food scene!

Overall, we love GINO’s for its impressive food quality and great neighborhood resto ambiance!

Make sure to order the Burrata, the Salted Egg Pasta, and the SMEGG Pizza, and reserve the Nutella Soup for dessert in advance. Budget at P400/person.

Best to make reservations during peak hours and bring your own wine. 🙂

  1. SMEG – Sure ME Graduate. I think this guy was in Ateneo Management Engineering and SMEG is a term they give if you pass the 1st or 2nd semester of junior year. I guess they still use that term after all these years.

  2. Tried Smegg, salted pasta, dalandan juice, house salad, coffee Americano yummy! Very friendly staff. Affordable!

  3. They only take reservations for the 6pm slot…anyone wanting to eat later has to fall in a long line. Not very thoughtful of their customers…why do they do this, just so people will see there is a long line and will get curious? Thoughtless and poor customer service. Anyway, perhaps will try when there is no line and see if it´s as good as they say.
