PORTERS is what I imagined a traditional English Pub experience would feel like. It’s located near Covent Garden, a popular shopping and tourist site on London’s West End, also know as the Theatre District.
Here’s a peek at our experience…
Porters is located along 17 Henrietta Street near Covent Garden.
PORTERS MENU: Porters A La Carte Menu | Porters Drinks Menu
Opened in 1979, you can feel the authenticity of the pub in its ambiance and menu.
It feels good to be in the company of the beautiful people of London. 🙂
Here’s our Filipino media contigent having dinner before watching Wicked.
✮ St. Peter’s Brewery Fruit Beer (500 ml – 5.25). 4.7% alcohol. CAMRA Award Winner.
A combination of zesty grapefruit and wheat beer resulting in a superbly refreshing beer.
I love their signature brewed beers, like this St. Peter’s Fruit Beer, which tasted interestingly different. Check out their other brewed beers in the Porters Drinks Menu.
✮ The London Particular, Pea and Smoked Bacon Soup (£4.75) Split pea and smoked bacon soup served with crusty bread.
Its name is inspired by the London Fog. A simple conconction of pea and stock of boiled smoked bacon. Really good! 🙂
Crispy Herb Crumbled Mushrooms with Blue Cheese (£4.85).
A good, somewhat healthy (it’s still fried) appetizer of mushrooms with blue cheese.
✮ Wild Boar and Sage Sausages (£12.85) with Mashed Potato, served with onion and ale gravy. A delicious gourmet sausage for the connoisseur with onion and ale gravy.
The best authentic Bangers and Mash I’ve tasted in London!
✮ Steak, Guinness and Mushroom Pie with Mashed Potato (£12.85) Steak with mushrooms, tomatoes, Guinness and herbs topped with puff pastry.
I love this Steak and Mushroom Pie, presented in a serving big enough to share, with mash potato on the side.
Love the flaky crust and hot steak inside. I never had pie this good in Manila.
✮ Steamed Syrup Sponge (£4.85). Wickedly delicious. Maybe why Britain hasn’t been successfully invaded since 1066!
This was really creamy and wickedly sweet, served like a soaked sponged cake.
✮ Spotted Dick (£4.85). Not what you might be thinking! An English classic; steamed sponge with sultanas.
The dessert that always bring smiles to the ladies. 🙂 It’s like the steamed sponge cake with raisin-like Sultana.
This is the first time I really enjoyed a good English meal with signature brewed drinks. 🙂
Be sure to check out PORTERS for an awesome English Pub experience the next time you’re in London. Order the The London Particular, Wild Boar and Sage Sausages, Steak, Guinness and Mushroom Pie, Spotted Dick, and St. Peter’s Brewed Beer.
