BEIGEL BAKE is a popular 24-hour Authentic Jewish Bagel Shop along Brick Lane in London.
Here’s our literal Midnight Snack food trip with my roommate Mikael and a friend at Beigel Bake…
On my last night in town, we went to one of the neighborhood districts in the East side to experience authentic bagels in London.
Beigel Bake Menu: Bread Rolls & Beigels, Pastries | Filled Beigels & Rolls, Drinks, Hot Salt Beef
It’s a take out counter and very popular with late-night workers and professionals.
We went to the kitchen where they were boiling the bagels.
The owners were very friendly. They let us shoot the process and even took time to answer our questions.
After boiling, they wash them with water…
…before baking them in the oven.
JImagine the smell of freshly baked bagels with cream cheese…
The specialty of the store is this Hot Salt Beef bagel.
Remember to put the strong flavored yellow mustard to complete the experience.
Hot Salt Beef (Beigel – £3.70).
Imagine a big chunk of salted ham with bagel and mustard. The best bagel flavor I’ve tasted!
Mikael was actually shooting his own segment throughout the whole experience.
He loved it as much as I did. Sarap!
Got some tips on how to shoot video using manual focus from Mikael’s friend.
They also sell other bagel flavors and some danish pastries.
Smoked Salmon (£1.40).
The Smoked Salmon was also very good, especially with the freshly baked bagels.
Mikael’s friend would agree. 🙂
It was interesting that they give you hot water and instant coffee on a styro cup.
If you are looking for a more sweet version, try the chocolate croissant.
This one was just OK and not as good as the bagels. Better to go to a cafe if you want a croissant.
It was both an educational and yummy experience for me to taste the Hot Salt Beef with Mustard Bagel, and a fun midnight snack food trip overall with Mikael and his friend. I’ve yet to find out if the segment was already shown in his Midnight Snack show.
The only downside is it was a bit out of the way from our hotel. Most of the establishments are also already closed by midnight and the brick lane is a bit dodgy at this time.

P.S. We took a London Cab ride to go to Beigel Bake to complete our London experience. 🙂
It’s a nice experience to see how they work with the food, how they do it.
