COCA is a Thai Hot Pot place famous for their Thai-style ‘Suki’ steamboat dining, created by Mr. Srichai Phanphensophon and his wife, Mrs. Patama, in 1957 in Soi Dejo, Thailand.
We loved our COCA experience at Resorts World Sentosa in Singapore, so we were happy when they finally opened a branch here in Manila at SM Aura Premier.
It got mixed reviews from foodies. Sharing with you our own COCA experience…
COCA restaurant’s Manila branch is located at the 5F Skypark of SM Aura Premier.
It has a more upscale loungy feel with Asian highlights in the design.
COCA RESTAURANT MENU: Suki Meal with Add Ons, Dessert | Ala Carte Menu | Drinks Menu
They are best known for their Suki Steamboat. Best to get the tables at the center of the resto.
You have four options in the Suki Platter:
- Green Earth (Vegetarian) P1,000++,
- Red Fire (Assorted Meat) P1,100++,
- Blue Ocean (Assorted Seafood) P1,500++, and
- The Emperor’s Platter (Assorted Meat and Seafood) P2,750++
You can ask to split the broth into the plain one and the spicy Tom Yum Goong.
✮ Seafood Durian Springroll (P420 +10% service charge).
While you are waiting for the broth to boil, you can order their signature springroll with seafood and oozing durian filling. 🙂
✮ Red Fire Platter (P1,100 + 10% service charge). Assorted Meat, Vegetables, Glass Noodles.
The platter is enough for a family of 3-5 persons. It comes with green vegetables, corn, carrot, tofu, different kinds of mushroom, beef, pork, and chicken.
It’s easier to eat the hot pot on the circular table with the steamboat in the middle.
It was a good interactive dining experience for the boys, who were eager to help out in cooking.
Make sure to put the meats in first, which need a longer cooking time, and then the vegetables. We also like adding some spicy chili and a dash of lemon into the broth.
Enjoy the cooked meat and vegetables with COCA’s signature sauce. 🙂
The glass noodles are cooked last because they finish quick. This is also the best way for the noodles to absorb the rich flavors of the broth.
Sweet & Sour Pork (P350 +10% service charge).
We ordered this for Aidan, which he loved. It was tender and not too sweet.
✮ Khao Tom (P280 +10% service charge). A delicious combination of rice slowly cooked in your suki broth with sesame oil, egg, spring onion, and fried garlic.
After eating all the meat and vegetables, make sure to order the Khao Tom, which is rice slowly cooked in the broth! 🙂
They add a touch of sesame oil, egg, spring onions, and a little of fried garlic.
The resulting mixture is a delicious congee. Wish this was served when we still had the meat and vegetables.
THAI ICED TEA (P90 +10% service charge).
The Thai iced tea was good but a little too sweet.
THAI ICED COFFEE (P90 +10% service charge).
A good alternative is the Thai iced coffee, but also a bit on the sweet side.
GALORGEE (Small – P250, Large – P450 +10% service charge). Our Signature Dessert.
A Thai-Chinese dessert, which is like crispy palitaw with peanuts, sugar, and sesame seeds. It’s OK but a bit expensive for its price and taste.
Ginko Nut in Almond Milk (P250 +10% service charge).
Another expensive, classic chinese dessert.
I liked the Thai-Style Suki Steamboat with Coca’s signature sauce and Khao Tom. For Durian lovers, don’t forget to order the Seafood Durian Springroll. You can skip the dessert.
I don’t like the dark, loungy ambiance of Coca Manila compared to Coca Sentosa Singapore’s, which is brighter, with a Thai TukTuk as a highlight. I wish the Manila branch considers an eat-all-you-can steamboat offer similar to Singapore’s.
Budget is P700/head.
