HILL STATION: One of the BEST Restaurants in Baguio! (Revisited)

Read First: HILL STATION & Mt. Cloud Bookshop, Baguio

Hill Station-84.jpg

HILL STATION is one of the best restaurants in Baguio showcasing the different flavors and influences of Mitos Benitez-Yñiquez’s  travel all around Europe, America and Asia. It won back-to-back recognition in the Miele's Best Restaurants in Asia awards.

It's one of my favorite restaurants in the Philippines because you can explore the world through her food with fine-dining quality but with a casual Baguio log-cabin ambiance.

We want to revisit Hill Station to savor their meat dishes especially at night.

Flavors of Baguio: Discover Baguio, One Bite at a Time!

MENU: Tapas, Homemade Soup, Salads for Two, Pastas, House FavoritesSlow-cooked stews & curries from Famed Hill Stations, Sandwiches, Dessert of the Day | Beverages and Drinks

The ambiance at night is romantic chic. I love the feeling of anticipation every time we go to Hill Station because you are sure that the food is good and you'll have a great time. It's a bit busy in the evenings so reservation is a must.

(Tip: Mt. Cloud Bookshop closes at 8pm so if you have kids, make sure to go and have a look.)

Hill Station Salad with chopped greens, strawberries, caramelized walnuts, kesong puti with sesame mirin dressing.

I always love salads in Baguio because of the fresh crisp vegetables and fresh strawberries picked from nearby strawberry fields.

★ Caesar Carpaccio (P290) Caesars Salad with cold smoked beef carpaccio.

Here's an interesting combination for starters -- a classic caesar salad but with thin slices of smoked raw beef.

Hill Station Revisited-19.jpg
★ Cambodian Coriander & Garlic Chicken (P380)Marinated overnight & Charbroiled with Pickled Cucumber & Steamed Upland Red Rice.

I love this different take on chicken -- using coriander and garlic flavors that penetrate  the meat, the nice char flavor, and a sauce that pairs perfectly with the red rice.

Hill Station Revisited-20.jpg
Seafood Carbonara (P320) Fresh seafood and home-made fettuccine in a light cream sauce.

I did not have a fighting chance to taste this because Aidan “devoured” it fast and was raving about it -- so it must be really good.

Hill Station Revisited-22.jpg
★ Moroccan Spiced Baby Back Ribs (P395). Slow- roasted first and then charbroiled for that tender yet crunchy texture on the outside.

For me, this is my favorite because of the use of different Moroccan spices, with very soft moist meat but with a crunchy outer layer. Must try!

Hill Station Revisited-23.jpg
Mutton Berbere, Ethiopia (P420)Kalderetang kambing made exotic with a sprinkling of berbere - a blend of over ten kinds of exotic spices, served with pita bread.

For something different, you can get a taste of Ethiopia with this Mutton Berbere. I love the spicy kick, soft goat meat, and the exotic taste of the sauce.

The pita bread cools very quickly, so you have to eat it as soon as it is served or remind them to put the pita in a basket. It's also very good with the red rice.

One of my criteria in selecting the BEST restaurants in the Philippines, is the way they serve their yummy signature desserts for a sweet satisfying finish.

Hill Station Revisited-25.jpg
Lemon Meringue Bars (P65).

This is like an inverted brazo but uses a sweet lemon meringue as base. Good!

Hill Station Revisited-26.jpg
Flan de Sevilla (P95).

This was simple but creamy and yummy.

★ Ice Cream Palette (5 Flavors) (P180). Benguet Coffee with Choco Chips, Dark Chocolate with cayenne, Vanilla Cinnamon, Very Strawberry, Mango Rum

You got to try the signature dessert of Hill Station which is home-made ice cream using local ingredients in Baguio served in a unique artist palette presentation. I love the coffee, chocolate and strawberry when available.

Overall, HILL STATION never fails to impress and you can taste the passion of the chef in every dish that comes out of the kitchen consistently.

Best to always try a 3-course set: Starter Salad - Main Dish - Dessert for the best experience. The portion of the dishes is good for one with big appetite but this is best shared so that you can try different flavors at a time.

Next time, we will try their breakfast :) Don't forget to check out Hill Station when you go up to Baguio!
