Raffles & Fairmont's SPECTRUM recently launched The Luxe Sunday Brunch to heat up The Battle for the BEST Sunday Brunch in Manila.

It's a carefully curated buffet with an interesting mix of Breakfast offerings, a Sunday BBQ Grill, Live Foie Gras station and unlimited Champagne, Singapore Sling and wine. Singapore has its Hainanese chicken, Thailand has its Pad Thai, Vietnam has its Pho, and the Philippines has its… Well, how about some Crunchy Belly? 

Carnivores would crave for this unique creation by Carlo’s Kitchen. It’s a pork concoction that’s a cross between chicharon and lechon kawali, except it’s not made out of pork rind but the belly part of the pig. The only thing that it has in common with chicharon is the way it looks, and maybe the way it sounds once you get a bite of it. The crunchy belly is actually more of a bagnet—a finger food version of it.

FINESTRA: The Finest Taste of Italy in Manila! @SolaireResort

FINESTRA is the authentic Italian restaurant of Solaire Resort. One of four signature restaurants there, it boasts beautiful floor-to-ceiling windows that look out into the Manila Bay and the Solaire pool. Finestra is well-named, given that it means 'windows' in Italian.

We just came from a recent food trip of the Veneto region in Italy, so I was happy to discover that the quality of cheeses, antipasto spread, handmade pasta and wood fire oven-cooked pizza is the same quality you would get in Italy. We were pleased to hear that most of the ingredients are directly imported from Italy and that the Executive Chef is Italian.

So far, this is the closest you can get to the romantic flavors of Italy in Manila.

ASILO TAGAYTAY: Insider's Tips on Avida's First Residential Retreat
